Christopher Adams yes. But He would provide a way out as He did with Abraham and his son Isaac. But in those times, it wasn't uncommon for children to be killed UNFORTUNATELY (!) which imho is also why Abraham listened. Good question andthis is one reason why the Bible does not give us a all the answers, so we can ask these sorts of things.
