Undisputed king of boxing channels. So glad you're back. So many folks talk about Nas's loss to Barerra without any context. Like he didn't dominate for a decade. It was unprecedented. His wins against Kelly, Robinson, and so many others. The guy came out on a magic carpet for Christ's sake. The dude is a legend and innovater. He was also one of the first boxers to get a deal from Adidas. Master of the draw and counter legend. There will never be another Nas. Never.

His fighting style was fast and dynamic. Unfortunately it's one that's not going to take you far as you age and slow down, but MAN it is fun to watch!

As i kid and a novice to the sport i loved this guy. His headmovement and power shots from unorthodox angles. That beeing said, he will always be a reminder and a great example of pride before destruction. He is now a very humble down to earth dude from what ive seen. Wish him blessings and joy. I can only imagine the depression and ego death he went through. Believe in Jesus Christ, Hamed. U will have true peace.

Simply a legend who would have been undefeated had he of done the fundamentals. According to those at Ingles he was always hard to get motivated to train, but when he parted ways with them his camps were in effective.
@arthas6406 ай бұрын
That's a lesson for fighters that rely heavily on head movement for defense. You're reactions slow as you age no matter what and head movement becomes much harder which is why so many boxers that fight into old age usually have other key skills. Foreman had a granite chin and unbeatable power, so did Hearns, and both Pacquiao and Duran had speed and power and a great chin. Counter punchers and those who rely mainly in head speed for defense though can have really short careers though if they don't use something else or change their style like Foreman focusing less in stopping and smothering punches and more on his guard for defense.
@H3llr4z0r6 ай бұрын
The greats can afford to be unorthodox. It's up to the coach to recognise and nurture that uniqueness.

While not exactly among the most technically gifted fighters out there, you cannot deny Hamed is one of the best entertainers in the history of the sport. The literal definition of "You either love him or hate him", the man really knew how to sell his fights.
@silenceisprecious82816 ай бұрын
what are you saying.. you clueless never been a fighting gym in ur life level of delusional clown he was one of the most gifted boxers of all time with possibly the best footwork of all time in boxing, not having to rely on defending himself with his hands most of the time because his ring IQ of knowing how to move to avoid punches was above anything ever seen in boxing combined with his speed to pull it off consistently and as a result he could put all his power into his punches from awkward angles which were still very good technique while throwing with absolutely full force while lunging at people...what are you talking about not exactly among the most technically gifted lol Defensively incredibly technically gifted, precision striking with proper technique at absolutely full force while straight lunging at people and more technically advanced footwork than anyone you can mention.

No actually you´re the goofy one you absolute clown lol he does not have a padded record at all, he fought the best guys in his division and the few ones he didn´t fight that were just below the best ones are people that ducked the fight to avoid getting humiliated and styled on for their own careers sake... he only lost 1 fight in his career which was at the very end of his career where he was not able to fight like he normally did because of how much damage he had sustained to his hands from fighting the way he did, creating too much power for his bones to handle. which is why he only fought 1 more time after that just to not retire on a loss and was forced to retire after that next fight coz of how terrible condition his hands were in. @@blobfish5858

Most seem to hate him these days but back in the mid 90s Naz was must see for any boxing fan. I remember going down to my local pub, watching him humiliate decent fighters time and again. Never missed a Hamed fight back then. Lost to an atg but he was gone to seed by then. Hand injuries and diminished reflexes took their toll. I’ll never forget the Kelley fight though. That was the low weight version of Hagler v Hearns; a short shoot-out, explosive while it lasted 🥊

@@logicalsense920 he was already looking to get out of the sport at that point because his hands were glass by then and he didn't have the fundamentals of someone like PBF or Calzaghe to make the pillow hands work for him. And unless you had power, Barrera was going to eat you up. Still, all those things and Barrera still couldn't get him out of there. Went to a UD where a flustered Barrera who couldn't land the shots he wanted resorted to wrestling and even tried to bounce Hamed's head off the turnbuckle. A broken down Hamed made an all time great have to work for it. That's what Champs do, even in their twilight.

Hot take: Prince’s boxing style was genius but would’ve been figured out and exposed over time. His whole style was based around baiting out certain punches to counter. It’s why he looked so effortless with his head movement, because he knew what punches were coming. Once a guy like Barrera figured it out he was able to use solid fundamentals and smart feints to dominate him. Unless he evolved as a boxer, I think he had reached his limit. He relied a lot on athleticism and KO power. I think Barrera basically laid the blueprint to beat Hamed and I think others would’ve done the same.

The great Cus D'Amato would have loved this kid. Cus believed boxing was all about entertainment. Giving the people what their money's worth. He believed it was not enough to win to be a great champion, but you must do it in an exciting manner. Break their will. Break their spirit. Destroy your opponent in a way the galvanizes the crowd. Prince Naseem was all that.
