Wow, I wish someone had taught me this early on. I ended up adapting and doing this anyway but it took me years to figure it out by myself! It just doesn't work against a 1-2 which is the most common combination in boxing. I initially always ended up slipping and then dipping to avoid that second straight punch, going against what I was drilled on, which was slip slip then roll.
@dr.dylansgame5583

agreed frustrated myself as it took me nearly 3 years to break this habit. The only time I double Slip before ducking or rolling is if I'm far away and expecting double hooks as I come in but most opponents don't bank that much on that many hooks. Though this works great if you want to start an exchange with someone who's also a big power punching in fighter.

That explanation is to the point. I always get hit trying to slip the cross after the jab, so naturally I started to roll after the jab. My coach keeps telling me during the drills I shouldn't roll but slip the cross, but it's just not working for me..

Thank you! Just like some others have said, I always feel safe slipping to my right but slipping to my left feels like I'm playing with fire. It just feels too easy for the other guy to loop his right hand and nail me. I've seen people slip right late in a fight after they have timed their opponent, but only rarely, and only while trying to get a knockout with a simultaneous counter punch.

I was a pro and I'm a southpaw When I slip , I always start with a slight duck because I don't want to slip right into a hook and get knocked out I also never slip without a punch at the same time Lead hand with a inside slip 95% of the time Rear hand with a outside slip 95% of the time Rolling is good practice but in application it's used to get into a ducked angled position then I usually throw a lead hook to the kidney then a lead corkscrew uppercut 2 punches from the lead fast

That's generally how I would do it as well. He's right though about slipping twice being idiotic. Actually even sleeping once to the right is often enough. I think our figure out slipping consecutively just puts you in line of attack so doesn't work.

Wing chun does also have center line like boxing but in wing chun it is called CENTER LINE THEORY!! And yes the wing chun stylist does not want to cross it, but , attack because all VITAL POINTS are located in the center line for example EYES,NOSE ,JAW ,SOLAR PLEXIS, and yes the GROIN!! created by a Chinese women !! Bruce Lee had one time thought this art to be superior than all kung-fu systems!! But truth is that it is not the art that makes the man!! But THE MAN THAT MAKES THE ART!! or style!!

The kid is slowing down on hes movement not fast enough hes not flexing his waist and hips Mayweather and Canelo can do it with Ease, the kid Just train yesterday obviously he will get hit, Kid is not flexible as well theres a physical Requirement to perfect the technique,. SLIP SLIP roll should be practice for at least 3 times a week for 12 months not 12 minutes .

Just be careful with a guy who notices that pattern too much and lands a right uppercut right after the slip of the jab ...boxing is tricky stuff I love when fighters use too much head movement cuz the upper or right hook to the body can land fairly easy
Don't be scared to slip the cross! [ Big Misconception! ]
