Yes, definitely possible to shoulder roll with head gear on. You can see a ton of pros doing it in sparring.

Dude this is fantastic info, thank you.... this is the first time ive heard an explanation that actually makes sense to me. Triangle or circle, who would have thought it could be boiled down to such a simple concept. Fantastic man.
I love the triangle head movement I use it all the time great for explosive counter punching. similar to canelos head movement

That's up to you to decide. The point is to try and hit him. If you can time him, great! Otherwise, find ways to limit or render his head movement less effective. Or be faster...or use faster punches like the jab. Use strategy, set him up!

Thanks alot for the feedback, I always watch your videos theres some really good and clear instruction. I had a private session with my trainer shortly after my post and we worked some head movement there, found some success with the slip to outside -> right uppercut to ribs.

Get him to throw downwards at me and then I fire over the top. I also play with the range to see if I can make him over-swing.
@expertboxing11 жыл бұрын
Well...if your head is going to your left, throw a right. If your head is going to your right, throw a left. Now if your head is going downwards, than a straight or overhand is more likely than an uppercut. If your head is going upwards, a straight or uppercut or hook is more likely than an overhand.

You waste twice the amount of energy when you miss a punch than when you land. Making the other guy completely miss allows you to land a more effective counter punch

Relax and take each step at a time. Imagine yourself going sideways, not in a circle. And don't look at one object too closely if you're feeling dizzy. Maybe some of that dizziness might have more to do with the punches than the circling?

Make sure you know how to fight well with the basic style before you try anything else. I think your coach just wants to make sure you understand the fundamentals. After that, you can do whatever you like.

Slow down the intensity to a point where you feel confident. He should be able to fight down to your level to give you an opportunity to learn.

The problem is because you move your head too much off the center. You only need very little movement to be effective, time will teach you how to do create a lot of "movement" without having to actually move much.

Don't move your head too far off axis and it won't pull you off balance. Do it minimally. Chances are, you're overdoing it.
@expertboxing11 жыл бұрын
It's probably better and safer to learn head movement in a gym with experienced fighters who can teach you AND test you.

So, how do I beat someone that has great head movement? How do I make my punches meet the direction of his head? How do I make him go where I want him to go (baiting him)? For instance, I throw a Jab, he slips & side-steps to my left, do I throw another Jab in the direction he is going or should I throwing hooks?

great video. could you please explain me 2 things? when you move triangular to your left, it seems you don't cross you right shoulder a little in front and your shoulder line is facing the camera : is there any matter? is it better to cross the right shoulder in front? furtheremore, you show circle left/right (facing the camera), but is it a good option to make circle oriented front left to rear right for exemple? thanks.
