You are talking in such a way as you coached Mike Tyson and other legends....and after reading this you will probably shout some filthy slang, nothing more than it. New to the sport. This emphasis on defense brings strategy to a new level. I recall hearing that punches that don’t land take more energy than punches that hit the mark. Seems that solid defense can possibly fatigue an opponent or frustrate them enough to create opportunities.

I watched Part 2 first, came here, subscribed, watched part one twice before attempting, and am on my third round of practicing my form. I'm using force to block, and I have to break that habit before I move on. Seriously appreciate you saying take it one step at a time. I feel like people give up when they aren't quickly good at something. But when it comes to anything physical, perfecting your form is always step one. Nothing else matters until you comfortably have the proper form. That's just not said enough.

I just had my first sparring session by mistake thinking it was going to be a regular boxing class with drills. But it was a great learning experience. what I noticed is that instinctively I was dropping my guard and getting my self open. and getting hit. If I had known these basics would have been at least been able to block most of the shots.

Great video. What i like about it is the "simple things." Like Guard. If you have a really good guard, that is your "fortress". There You should feel pretty safe. Each time you throw a punch it is like a game of "tag"...you throw a punch..but you can be hit back also. So who can get their guard back together after throwing a punch..it all happens faster than a blink of the eye.

I learned this from Fighting games over time. Defense and Neutral is where you win. Offense can run itself almost honestly. the only somewhat tricky part of offense are good reads and setups, but defense is the hardest and most important because it cant be flow charted, its reactionary and proactive.

Wow man a good piece of teaching how to defense, like you said in boxing classes trainers focus more on teaching ppl how to throw punches than defense the result being Im good at it but pathetic at defence

I just had my first sparring session today and definitely need to improve my blocking!! In real time you just don’t know what’s about to be thrown at you, so I had a hard time trying to use the correct blocking techniques. I will watch this video several times over the next week and hopefully will get better for the sparring next week! Thanks for the video!
