When I did professional boxing every one of my fights ended in a first round knock out. If I had a shot at Mike Tyson I guarantee a knock out in the first 10 seconds. The only reason I quit is I was sick of getting knocked out every fight.

Honestly though, Lewis was just letting it happen. That is one of the lamest fights ever. Lewis, and I don't mean to diss his actual fights, that dude was good, was just leaning into it. If that was a real fight he would have kept back and thrown, but he just kept accepting the hug in this fight. This was some kind of "let's not get hurt" bullshit agreement.

Not actually the most outrageous one I've seen. 2006 Sem Schilt, the king of heavyweight kickboxing vs Hong Man Choi, a Korean mostly lined up in fights because he's so tall. Schilt is the king of kickboxing, only ever defeated on skill by one man, himself a kickboxing legend. Schilt destroys all. The two people to ever beat him with a lucky punch, then got utterly destroyed by Schilt in the rematch. Choi was dropped after 3 years with 13-9 record. 7 of those wins came from facing meme-tier fighters like Akebono (a sumo wrestler desperate for money), Bob Sapp (lol), Tom Howard and Sylvester Terkai (both pro-wrestlers lined up for record-padding). And 8th win came from fighting Kaoklai, who a guy who typically competes at welterweight, meaning there was over 50 kg difference between them. Watching Schilt destroying Choi for 9 minutes straddled the border between a legit fight and child abuse. If you scored that fight 30-24 in favour of Schilt, nobody would've questioned you. 'Somehow' after that the exclusively Korean judges gave the win to Choi.

Some fighters have glass chins, but nobody talks about having a "glass will". Rigondeaux quit the biggest fight of his career despite not even taking much damage. And he pretty much mentally quit vs Casimero even though that was a winnable fight. Basically he'd rather take an L than take the risk of digging deep.

rigo moved up 2 weight classes and his gameplan was thoroughly destroyed. he likes to bait big overcommitted swings after frustrating opponents to counter off of, but loma shut it down by abusing feints and getting in close. his right side escapes and pivots were also nullified because it was a closed stance fight. rigo outlanded casimero, and casimero couldn't hit someone who was running in a tiny boxing ring. he looked more tired by the end of the fight. disgraceful performance from casimero honestly, rigo made him look like an idiot because he didn't even try to adjust to rigo's movement and couldn't hit him

Rigondeaux should have been removed from professional competition after that fight. Casimero, on the other hand, should work on cutting the ring off. This wasn't the first time Rigo ran around, but it was one of the few times he was able to run away from his opponent. There are lots of examples of pressure fighters catching up to opponents with quick feet. He could've caught Rigo a few times every round and made the fight a lot more interesting.

@@galvanimontenegro2442 Yeah, and he lost. He should be out of competitive boxing because of this. Still, Casimero could've caught up. Hagler ran after a few of his opponents, so did PacMan. The Oliver McCall one just makes me sad any time I see it. He had severe drug addiction issues and had a full blown emotional breakdown in the ring. I just feel for the dude and I know he continued to struggle with addiction, but I hope now days he's figured things out and gotten better. I got home from 2.5 days of not sleeping during a trip to New Orleans, decided to stay awake to watch Greg Page fight someone (can't recall his opponent). Over 12 rounds I doubt they threw 100 punches combined, they either stood six feet apart or leaned on each other without punching. Solo Boxeo & Box Tecate used to have some of the worse mismatches imagineable (example: Alphonse "Yori Boy" Campas would let some kid with a 3-2 record punch for two rounds, then chop him down before stopping him). ESPN had their share of crap fights.

One correction before the late 1960s, they would throw you in with anyone. Ezzard Charles in his 14th fight (which was still in his first year) fought a former world champion with 127 wins 9 loses and over 20 draws he had more draws that Charles had fights. This wasn't unusual, because back then a loss meant very little, the skill you showed in the ring is what mattered, it also helped out the fighter. Ezzard Charles lost the fight but learnt more in those 10 rounds than 20 or 30 fights against journeyman and national level boxers. It's one of the reasons the first ever heavyweight boxing world champion fight involving two undefeated boxers happened in 1973 almost 100 years after the first heavyweight world title fight. That was Frazier vs Ali and that could only occur because of Ali's prison sentence.
