Completely disagree with Andy and Rob about round 9, if you’re not going to call a knockdown for the first time the ropes holds him up why would you when they keep him up for a third time? If you’ve gone that far then imo you let the fighter finish the job
@jefp65Күн бұрын
The first couple of times he was more bouncing off the ropes although he was obviously in trouble. He made a call that Fury was falling into the ropes at the point he called the 8 count. If you determine the ropes are holding the fighter up you have to do an 8 count. The ref doesnt have a choice at that point. It was a knockdown.
@Gm_1398Күн бұрын
@@jefp65I understand that but what I’m trying to say is that there’s not particularly much difference from when he first hits the ropes or the third. The ref should have called it a knockdown when the ropes first held him up or let it continue, either way I thought he let fury off the hook there

I used to manage football teams at a fairly high level and if we were up at half time I always changed things. You have to give credit to the opposition manager who will change things based on what he saw in the first half. In my first game our winger roasted their full back - and I took him off at half time. Their manager changed things to cope with a winger who was no longer on the pitch. My point is after a few good rounds Fury carried on doing what had worked Usyk knew it wasn't working and changed. Fury needs to change things up as the fight goes on to keep usyk guessing. Also Fury needs combinations. Punch one will miss usyk is that good, so will punch two but usyk is then stopped for the only time and can be hit by punch 3 or 4. As Barry said Fury never threw punch 3 and 4.
@dontbewoke21 сағат бұрын
He didn't because he was apprehensive and lacked confidence ; that was very apparent pre fight. He had avoided Usyk for 2 years , he knew how good Usyk was. He's concerned about his own gas tank too ; putting together combos is tiring especially when you're missing (and he missed more against Usyk than in any other fight). To win the fight he needs to throw more combos I agree but he risks getting stopped pretty early if they continuously miss.....basically he needs bigger balls.
@davebento154819 сағат бұрын
@@dontbewoke Interesting - thanks for that. My point was if you throw punches in one or two's you will miss alot. It would be punches 3 or 4 that would hit and slow or stop usyk because he only stops moving with his feet when he avoids punches.

No one talks about Usyks power being more DANGEROUS than Deontay Wilders. Put Fury over with 1 punch and he will just get up after getting ready during the COUNT seconds. BUT- Usyk is more dangerous because he DOESNT knock you down with one punch- he punishes you with VOLUME hitting Fury time and time and time again while Fury hasn’t GOT the benefit of a refs count- The way to stop Fury is to stop him STANDING UP because he’s being punched out of his senses, a referee MUST stop the fight. You see my point? Instead of just going straight down, getting a few seconds then getting up- he ends up taking a huge shot like the round 9 one and then takes another dozen punches before going down- he really took an absolute hiding in that round, and was actually ko’d. Fury himself looked like he thought the fight was over when he stood up and sheepishly walked along the ropes he thought it was over. And it should have been. I don’t believe in seeing a beating like that and allowing a fighter to recover and immediately carry on taking head shots. But Usyk feels he CAN stop Fury if he can just get the same situation going but without Fury running all over the place, get him on the ropes and taking shot after shot he’ll stop him. Edit- Muhammad Ali stopped MANY opponents by volume while they were still standing. Watch the Ron Lyle knockout. That’s how you stop Fury.

Fury had his moments espailly in the 6th but that’s not a close fight. Right? Is 3 rounds and one of them you land an uppercut a close fight when you lose 9 and get dropped? No it’s not. That being said fury can win and I expect him to get the nod this time unless Usyk KOs him. Fury by MD. Although everyone will be complaining about the result.
