Fun fact… strawberries are the only consumable fruit with the seeds on the exterior. Also, they do not continue to ripen after being picked, that’s why grocery store strawberries have a white core and have mediocre flavor. Buy them from the farm.

Great video. I just want everyone to know that strawberries are monster plants that dance across your garden consuming every patch of land, so don't think "Oh, look how cute!!!" and go throwing one in with your azaleas unless you KZbin it first. Also, 1:33 is 93 seconds. At 60 frames per second, that's 5580 photographs. Across 160 days, that's 34 frames per day or about one every 42 minutes...-ish.

For permacultures they are amazing tho. Better have that than grass for sure, especially if you plant indigenous strawberries.

@@Im-just-Stardustexactly! I planted a patch and let them spread within the area I had planned for it and they're gorgeous. I planted a native California variety, but it seems hybridized because the blossoms are a vibrant pink, some are straight magenta. The info card said it would have white blossoms, but no complaints here. I actually wished it had pink blossoms, and the plant gave me those 😂🍓🍵

I'm curious what kind of strawberry this is. I've seen about a dozen varieties and grow 4 varieties in my garden, but this looks like something else. The leaves and fruit look like a woodland strawberry, but it's also different in every way, from the color, to the waxiness of the leaves, the size of the serrations and blossoms. I'm intrigued I have native and cultivated varieties. They're all beautiful, like the beach strawberry with its fuzzy body and esthetically serrated leaves with vibrant pink blossoms, then there's the seascape with huge rounded leaves and white blossoms. Strawberries are amazing 🍓🍵🙏

Frames are taken with an interval of about 40 minutes, so I think he synced the lights with the camera. He probably set a lighting schedule of 16-8 and during the night the lights turn on for the time necessary to take the photo. A few seconds of light every 40 min shouldn't disturb the plant cycle

Fruits weren't made for people. Fruits evolved as a novel mechanism of seed dispersal in the flower-bearing plants (angiosperms), which is responsible for their success in the current geological era. Conifers and older groups of plants rely mostly on wind for spore/seed dispersal; in the case of angiosperms, seeds are enclosed in this novel structure, the fruit, whose main function is to attract animals (showy colors, nutritious tissue) that indirectly aid in the dispersal of the seeds.
