This is a very strong song to start for a new group. If you are not a fan and you get goosebumps and cry, it means the girls did a good thing. Can you believe how we moomoos felt when we thought this was their disband song? I still get shivers when I see this video after so many views. The only flaw this song has is that it doesn't have enough Moonbyul.

True, I would have loved a bit more Moonbyul too. ❤️

The reason why Wheein and Hwasa harmonize with the lines "Two of us had the same dream are here" is because they were best friends since middle school, they auditioned in different companies together, and now successfully debuted in the same group ❤

Wow, really? That’s amazing! ❤️

Yes! They are so close that they have a couple of matching tattoos. They each have one on the side of their necks and they each have one on an ankle. They also bought each other a pair of hand-made rings inscribed with each other's initials; Hwasa wears a ring with a 'W' on it and Wheein wears a ring with an 'H' on it (Hwasa is her stage name but her real name is Ahn {her family name} Hye-jin {her personal name} ).

@martinschafer7404Ай бұрын
This song is about them looking back on their careers together. It came out just before the 7th year anniversary and Wheein's contract was still up in the air. The final harmony between Hwasa and Wheein who met in middle school and came to Seoul together to audition, "The two of us shared the same dream. Where are we now?" Was so wrenching. Wheein signed with another company for her solo work but resigned with RBW for group content. You should really watch their Immortal Songs Medley. It is a clip from their 2017 concert as is possibly the best vocal kpop performance ever. Immortal Songs is a competition show where the contestants cover songs by famous Korean artists. Mamamoo was the first girl group to win and the first group to win more than once. They appeared 14 times (Solar also appeared solo once) and won 3 times. The medly is fine to react to, but the individual performances will usually be blocked.
@GorillaGorillaАй бұрын
Ty not many mention how significant that line sung by Wheein & Hwasa is.
@xheraltАй бұрын
One has to be careful using the word "resigned", because it could be resigned as in quit, or resigned (properly re-signed) as in renewed; direct opposite meanings! Better to avoid the word and say Wheein _remains with_ RBW for group activities.

On ballads like this their different vocal timbres trigger internal goosebumps in different parts of my body as though each member is directing a sonic laser into that area's resonant frequency. Paint Me is another vocal masterpiece in this vein. There are a few images in the MV that invite interpretation. There's an overhead shot where the members are standing in a formation that looks like an unfinished 4 or an upside down and backwards 7. I take that to mean 7 years have passed but the 4 of them aren't done yet. The following scene shows them in a field surrounded by spotlights shining into the night sky. Mamamoo wouldn't reflect on their career without mentioning their fans (moomoos) and I think the spotlights represent moomoos surrounding them with love and support, lifting them to stardom just as they've lifted our spirits to the heavens with their voices and music. To follow up on Marin's comment, they did several things to celebrate their 7th anniversary in 2021. Where Are We Now was the main single from a 4 song all-ballad EP called WAW (Where Are We). They also released a documentary film with the same title and a 2 cd career retrospective album called I Say Mamamoo: The Best, consisting of 2 new songs and 21 new recordings of their hits and favorite b-sides with different versions than the original recordings, mostly remixes and rearrangements they had done live in concert. You can take Where Are We Now personally and relate it to your own life and, as Martin said, on another level it's Mamamoo reminiscing about their 7 year journey together as they ponder their future. This kind of self-reflection is rare in kpop and I don't know of another song like it, which makes me think there's a third level of meaning in WAWN where they're speaking for a whole generation of idols who have been in the game a long time and are at a crossroads in their career and personal lives. Sometimes Mamamoo represents the heart, soul and conscience of kpop. Hwasa's solo song LMM (Lost My Mind) is another example. When you get around to LMM you might also want to watch the live performance at the 2023 SBS Drama Award show. Hwasa was supposed to perform her latest songs but instead sang LMM as a tribute to actor Lee Sun Kyun, who had committed suicide shortly before the award show.

When this song dropped, so did my heart. This happened to coincide with their 7-year contract expiring so I thought this was their goodbye song (yes, in hind-sight I know how STUPID that makes me look and you would not be wrong; I really should have known better). It's a BEAUTIFUL and very artistic song, and it should evoke emotion no matter who sees it. But for me I really cried, thinking they were breaking up. It really felt like a goodbye. THEN of course after I got that out of my system, I found out they re-did their contracts so the group is still together (even if Wheein went in a different personal direction). Mamamoo will always be Mamamoo.
@lorydannagrАй бұрын
I would have suffered a lot too. Emotions cannot be policed. It’s normal, so do not beat yourself up for being human. ❤️
@jamescurfman3284Ай бұрын
@@lorydannagr I might still have gotten tears from the song even if I had known they would stay together. But I was mad at myself later, for having thought they would break up, for doubting these absolute queens. I love Intelligence over a lot of other things, so I was kicking myself for not thinking about it clearly enough to realize that they would never break up; they could never do that to each other and would never do that to their adoring fans. I did not need to cry like I did. I am very hard on myself when I mess things up, that's just part of me. Oh, well. I was REALLY HAPPY to find out they are still together (at the same time as kicking myself and thinking of how stupid I had been).

I suscribed because I need to keep watching you fall in love with Mamamoo :') and I'm so happy for you to notice Wheein's talent :') Later you will find Moonbyul singing voice too and I will wait until you watch her solo Eclipse ❤ Also, I want to suggest a boy (already men) group, Highlight ❤ You can react to their Killing Voice! Or their MV Not the end. They started as a 2nd gen group (B2ST) and after some things that happened, they are now a 4th? Gen group as Highlight 😅 They are truly talented.

This song is full of emotion, they sang it to looking back to there past journey to where they are now to the future without uncertainty... really one of mamamoos best songs and all their vocals shine in this song I recommend i miss you and another day some of my favorite mamamoo b-side songs
@sendarianАй бұрын
This is a beautiful song, and yeah Mamamoo is very skilled at making you feel the emotions they want you to feel. This song was written at the end of their 7 year contract when most idol groups end because contracts end. At the time Hwasa delayed signing a new contract and Wheein actually did not sign, opting to sign with a different company for her solo work but signed a continued mamamoo contract for 3 more years. This prompted them to say in their live stream concert they would always be together. They also did a documentary which if you watch expect to cry a lot but it was over this time when there was uncertainty about continuing. Today, Wheein left that company and is not not signed anywhere but is still doing mamamoo stuff. Hwasa signed with Pnation for solo work(Psy's company) but all are still mamamoo. They dont release much on future work, at the end of their last album 1llella it was thought they were done but then they did a world tour concert last year and for the first time included the USA which is why was able to see them. This song is also on a mini album they released which is all ballads. Have tissues for when you watch the Solar Gamsung videos most of those will make you cry and the I Love too live performance from moosical, be prepared for tears.

@@lorydannagr but when you see Mamamoo in cutesy style you will be surprised how they can slay the concept too. part reason is that there company RBW never made much effort to promote them abroad north america, europe as some example. RBW also for ever never put eng subs even after months of release of mamamoo videos and mvs even. Just been last maybe 1 years they have subs right away. They been around for 10 years.. RBW make great music and mvs BUT there marketing and promotions are really what failed mammoo potential. Mamamoo has gained more global fan base more for their raw talents.
