Germany has the highest number of bone marrow donors worldwide (7 million signed up donors) and I myself will also donate my bone marrow from Germany to a stranger in the world. The organisation contacted me two days ago that a patient needs my bone marrow. I'm soo excited even though I am a nurse and familiar with medical procedures. But this is a whole other thing. And I definitely want to meet the recipient and get to know his or her story.

I live in Germany and donated stem cells to a man in California. I encourage everyone to become a donor. It is safe for donors and requires only some time. If you can't donate stem cells, please donate blood. Everyone takes it for granted that blood will be there when needed. ît is not. There is always a shortage of blood, especially in summer months. More accidents, fewer donors. Please donate blood, if you can. It doesn't hurt, and you may save someone's life.

I donated after about 10 years on a register. I will never know who received it. Apart from it was a guy in his twenties. Who had days to live and was in isolation at a hospital. A couple of months later I heard it had worked and he was home and well. Then I believe about 8 months later that he had a recurrence and died. I was heart broken. This must now be about 15 years ago. To this day. I so wish they had taken more from my body that was needed and that he was still alive. From time to time. I think about him. Wishing I could of done more. It's like I let him down.

PaulsTravelVlogs please don’t blame yourself. Because of you this young man and his family had 8 months together, 8 months he wouldn’t have had without you. I’m sure they are all very grateful for those extra months you gave him, them. 240 extra days, 5760 hours which he had because of you.

So you'll understand my joy at watching this clip here about something 'good' being done between 2 totally different people, total strangers but finding a common trait that I wish more people would advocate= LOVE for their fellow human being! I hope this wee fella is going from strength to strength with his gift of another chance in life. Tc dude.

@Jupe3676 жыл бұрын
I'm not a professional in this area but I think it has to do with their DNA. DNA is what shapes who you are as a person so, when there is a match, two people can have a strong resemblance. If you watch a few of these youtube bone marrow donor / recipients videos, most of them do look kin to each other. I wonder sometimes if they share the same family tree in their past generations but don't know it. How else would DNA be a match if they are not from the same family tree or some sort.
