They wrote two hits for Whitney Houston. Their voices go great together

I wish there was a true live performance of Shannon and George singing this. All I've found are lip syncs over the studio recording and then the solo performance from George. I think they're great singers, but always nice to see a true live performance.
Same. Surely, somewhere one live version exists? Crazy.

@@barrydavid6634actually it was written in 1985 after they saw Whitney Houston at Greek Theatre. It was rejected by Whitney ( Clive Davis) and later Belinda Carlisle for their albums. The song is 40 years old next year.

I hear your name whispered on the wind It's a sound that makes me cry I hear a song blow again and again Through my mind and I don't know why I wish I didn't feel so strong about you Like happiness and love revolve around you Trying to catch your heart Is like trying to catch a star So many people love you baby That must be what you are Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms baby, yeah I've learned to feel what I cannot see But with you I lose that vision I don't know how to dream your dream So I'm all caught up in superstition I want to reach out and pull you to me Who says I should let a wild one go free Trying to catch your heart Is like trying to catch a star But I can't love you this much baby And love you from this far Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms baby, yeah Waiting (however long...) I don't like waiting (I'll wait for you...) It's so hard waiting (don't be too long...) Seems like waiting (makes me love you even more...) Waiting for a star to fall And carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms baby, yeah I SUNG THIS SONG 🎵 LAST NIGHT AND MY BEAUTIFUL GIRLFRIEND KATY WEATHERALL LOVED ME SINGING IT WE FACETIMED EACH OTHER ON WHATSAPP LAST NIGHT AND SHE IS THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN CHEER ME UP AND I WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL FOR HER DOING THAT FOR ME I LOVE HER SO MUCH AND I REALLY WANT TO MARRY HER AND SHE WANTS TO MARRY ME AS WELL ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Fun fact this song was written for Whitney Houston since he penned some of her biggest hits but she turned it down.
@joshuaguthmann43832 ай бұрын
I've watched several of their live performances of this song on various platforms and the presentation is always so flawless that but for a few subtle differences from the studio track you might think they were lip syncing the whole thing-- that's how good the vocals, keyboards, sax, and mix sound. Great songwriters and singers.

Do they really sound this perfect Live? Seems like they are lip syncing.

Shannon Rubicam and George Merrill, the two performers seen here, originally wrote this song for Whitney Houston. However she turned it down. They decided to go ahead and record and release it themselves believing it to be a hit. After it became a top ten hit around the world Whitney stated it was the worst mistake of her career turning it down.
