Back when shows weren't afraid to blow the double standards to smithereens. A lot of times in movies/shows it will have the guy learning not to judge someone by their reputation but here it's the girl who needed to learn that lesson.

Jonathan loves Shawn with his whole heart man, he really cares about him and it honestly shows. They taught us that family does not have to be blood to be family. The advice he gives Shawn, without Shawn even asking just melts my heart over and over forever. That’s going to stick with Shawn for life and I’m so glad that the person it came from is Jonathan. Shawn and Jonathan’s father-son relationship makes me beyond happy always. They’re so blessed to have eachother, it’s beautiful. You can see how grateful they are to be able to talk to eachother about anything, that’s true love. 🥺❤️

The problem is, is that at least in this instance, Shawn's reputation is based on his past experiences, and the way he has treated girls in the past. Shawn even admitted that he had never listened to a girl before, so when he suddenly decides to, Dana is supposed to be some kind of mind reader? If I hear that a girl is a constant cheater or something, with a clear admitted record of never being faithful to a dude, and I got with her, and she cheated on me? People would think I was a fucking idiot. Yes, there's giving someone a chance, but if their past is filled with the exact opposite of what they're trying to say they now are, they need to work really hard to show it and to show that they've changed. I can't fault Dana for wanting to play it safe. No one willingly chooses to get their heart broken.
