BOYGROUP STAN REACTS TO HWASA 화사 'MARIA' MV! FIRST TIME REACTION!!

Hwasa said Maria is the crystallized tears and sweat that she shed. The MV starts with a crime scene, Hwasa is dead and people are still trying to take some shots of her. A red hair Maria (an alter ego after Hwasa baptismal name) is watching the scene careless. Hwasa funeral, only empty chairs with invitation on it and with its back turned, nobody cares like she says in the lyrics. Here an homage to the most beautiful and powerful scene in Malena movie, with all those men offering their lighter to her. Malena is the most beautiful woman of a SMALL village (it can be a comparison to South Korea restricted mentality), because of her looks and her solitary state, she is an object of lust for all the town's men and of hatred for its women…after many vicissitudes and a very hard time she understood that her beauty is her salvation. So she cuts her black hair and dyes by red her hair, changing her attitude as well. We can clearly see a difference among Hwasa and Maria, both in outfits and attitude. In the table scene we can see a bloodstained Maria with rubber boots and a pretty simple outfit at a table with people all dressed up, they're keyboard warriors. Again lyrics "You all worked hard hating. If you knock me down. Does that feed you?" She's serving them with all sort of things. The table is full with jewels, trove of tapes, mics, cds, diamonds…but they're just looking at those picky. Maria with a bored face is watching them and then she starts happily eating a brain. The difference among Maria and those people is so strong and impactful. I've also read that eat someone's brain means pester someone. The triangular tub is also interesting, she's bathing in milk and rose petals like a Queen and her skin is so white, but once again she looks bored and then she starts to make 'no' gesture with her finger with a smirking face. Like 'I don't need to be pale, I'm beautiful like this'… probably a references to all hateful comments she gets about her bronze skin since ages. We're back to Hwasa, she's trapped like in a mental hospital with a straitjacket, all her body is constrained by laces…this once again can be interpreted as the restricted South Korea mentality. They're monitoring her, pencils (comments) are pointed at her and she is trying to escape from this kind of net (network) until she finds a crown with diamonds and nails (representing the double faces of success). Ink-stained hands Hwasa decides to wear the crown, She got ink on her hands while fighting malicious comments, in fact we can see her beating her fists on the ground and shouting. The triangular tub is back but this time we can see Maria and Hwasa looking at each other through a bloody water. A triangle is a figure linked to different trinities like mind, body & spirit; past, present & future; thought, feeling & emotion and creation, preservation and destruction. And, personally, all those fit this MV perfectly. And now we discover Hwasa was not dead at all. Like it was all a dream, in fact she's on a coach with scissor in her hands, she is alone with her thoughts when suddenly Mamamoo members appear with big smiles. She said many times Mamamoo are her strength and she was able to face difficulties since trainee period only because they were together. The whole lyrics are beautiful and powerful but sad at the same time. She said this is an exciting yet sad song, she likes those kind of songs because they resemble life. She co-wrote and co-composed 4 songs out of 6 of this album…a Queen like always.

lf you like facial expressions, you should definitely check out Mamamoo's hoobae boy group, ONEUS. Even though they are somewhat new, their defining feature seems to be story-telling, acting, and facial expressions. They have some amazing album songs (as expected from music produced by Mamamoo's label company), MVs (such as "LIT"), and Road to Kingdom performances (such as "Be Mine" and "Come Back Home")!

Buckle up FiFi, falling in love with Mamamoo is going to be the best and worst thing ever (because there’s SO much to love about them, but if this is the first gg you stan, your standards will be set so high it’s hard to stan another gg after them tbh). The dance break took a moment to click for me but man oh man, this whole MV is a masterpiece. What I love about Hwasa and Mamamoo in general with their group and solo work is that they always try new things. Like, we all expected fire from Hwasa but NOBODY expected it to turn out like this. It’s so unlike anything else I’ve heard in kpop but so familiar because it’s inherently Hwasa. Excited to see your album first listen! Also - the lyrics to Maria are actually really sad. It’s referring to the hate Hwasa gets and this song is talking to her other self, Maria. The end of the chorus before the iconic body roll is something along the lines of “why are you struggling, you’re already beautiful.”

Mamamoo’s main dancer is moonbyul and wheein but really, each member is free to do their own thing so when you see their live performances, nobody has one role. Great example is Mamamoo’s iconic MAMA 2018 performance.

the song is about people trying to tear her down, to destroy her self esteem, literally feeding off watching her suffer. The mv had a lot of little symbolic details: the people eating mics and cds and fashion items (consuming her), the people with their faces covered (anonymous) having keyboard in their plates (keyboard warriors), Everyone gathering at her crime scene taking pictures and enjoying "the spectacle" but no one actually showing up at her funeral...etc

Yup agree... They said it themselves that they are 4 vocalist, 4 dancer and 4 rapper despite the fact tht they have vocal n performances roles given for some member, there is no main or lead roles for those.. For example, Solar is incharge of vocal and as a leader. Moonbyul is in charge of rap and performance. Wheein is in charge of vocal and performance. Hwasa is in charge of vocal and ad the maknae of the team. And thats all, they never mention who is main or lead. Those role exist because as part of those who is in charge of vocal, they usually (back then without moonbyul) does a lot of harmonisation. And then for those who in charge of performance (wheein and moonbyul), theyre in charge of helping solar and hwasa by teaching them some choreos and also majorly help in choroegraphing some of their performances choreography. Nowadays, the performance line also releases dance cover of their own. As of this, neither is there any center or visual... The true role tht exist and is fixed will be our yongleader and our maknae hyejinie!!!

Ik I’m late but I just discovered your channel and I love it so much I thought I was the only one who was a all boy group stan and only stan mamamoo. At first I thought only boy groups catch my eye but then I tried getting into girl group because I wanted to see if I can actually stan a girl group and I finally found mamamoo and now I’m in love with them. I choked up seeing the girls come in at the end. Hwasa has said before that they've surpassed just being friends--they're her family. It's so touching to see how much they support each other. (If you're in the mood for something heartwarming, this is Mamamoo's reaction to Twit's first win. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4HYmJ2gor2ikKc ) Others have mentioned that there aren't really main/lead roles in MMM. Instead, members are more "in charge of" roles, but all 4 are quite versatile and can do just about anything. Something interesting is that rather than "dancing," they use the term "performance" (Moonbyul/Wheein's role). Likely related to the fact that, as a group, they focus on their vocals and stage performances (ad libs, audience participation, etc). Off to your album first listen! :)
