Marriage is an exercise in futility. If anything it only serves as a financial burden with the cost of a ring and a wedding and all the other marriage traditions. If a divorce happens (which is like 90% of the time instigated by a woman, I'm making that statistic up) you lose almost all of your posessions and money. They still bleed you dry afterwards with alimony payments. The famous statistic that's always repeated is that 50% of marriages end in divorce (though it's likely closer to 70) so if Mr. Boy Meets Girl here gets hitched, he'll likely be bereft of all his money. Marriage as it exists in the modern world is the ultimate form of cuckoldry. Love is a fickle thing, DON'T MAKE IT LEGALLY BINDING.
@mrmeh98536 ай бұрын
@@MyHeartIsOpen2You Marriage is an exercise in the sacrifice and modesty of both parties, your doomerisms will not nullify the benefits of marriage when two actual adults make it work. The issue is morality or lack there of it. Both men and women have become increasingly poor equipped psychologically, leading each to ignorantly and selfishly deprive each other of each's needs and ignore each other's way of thinking. Divorce only started becoming the quote on quote issue in the 20th century, it's been around much longer than your entire country (assuming you're American). TL;DR - Make yourself work marrying, choose someone worth marrying and ensure both are willing to concede to each other occasionally.

You should only really marry someone after you know damn near everything about them. 10:00+ Failure is part of gameplay. We all have been there and older games were far less forgiving in the matter. You try until you make it and for Half-Life it means staying alive. If you do that just by using the crowbar, the pistol, ... does not matter. The game does not dictate you the solution, you are free to try until you make it . If you do it wrong the game tells you with a death screen. You may be more familar with game patterns to understand the meaning of destrutables, ammo, weapons - e.g. that a weapon pickup maybe important and the weapon more powerful or helpful for the next challenge. Instead of wondering about her hardships - I would praise her resilience and the games resilience to allow so many even sup par tactics to last her that long.

I have several friends who all approach video games with some mentality akin to "I'm bad at video games". It effects how they play and feel about a game more than anything else. Some of these people have played video games a lot and some have played them a little and it universally makes them less able to learn by trial and error. Thinking you're bad at the game makes you more risk averse (so less trial) and also unable to understand why things are happening (less error). You can see the former in Girlfriend sticking with the gun she knows well. Boyfriend explained the latter very succinctly when talking about Girlfriend brute forcing through sections. I see this with my own friends as well. Feeling like you are unable to engage with the game, like it's a foreign language, I think is rooted in thinking you're bad at games. Young Boyfriend at some point in his life played a game the same way as Girlfriend played halflife. Young Boyfriend probably only ever externalized the difficulty. This GAME is hard. Not that BOYFRIEND isn't good enough. Love these videos, it's such an interesting thing to see and hear. Mr Boyfriend, please don't say Girlfriend is bad at video games or that she has her 'girlfriend way' of doing things. You did them that way at some point as well.

I genuinely hope for Taryn’s sake that the joke at the beginning was just that - a joke. If she actually wants to get married, and you used to tell her you’d propose when Baldur’s Gate 3 came out because you didn’t think it would happen, then moved the goalposts to an even less likely-to-happen game when it did, in fact, come out, then you’re just stringing her along at this point and she should find someone who’s more serious about her. Which is why I say I hope it’s just a joke. 😕

The best thing about these kinds of videos, is immediately recognizing the clips from parts that doubled as multiplayer maps and were played for hours and hours in someone's basement or attic in 4 player lans (like crossfire or the vip team fortress classic map :D:D:D:D:D

half life is important i get that but just the difference in level of imersion the graphical upgrade of half life 2 made it so much more of a memorable experiance, people in this game got a terrible case of puppet mouth... while in 2 they can emote they feel so much more real and human.

Half-life 1 was lightning in a bottle. It followed up quake (same engine) and it managed to pull off the pure magic trick of playing well across many playstyles and configurations. Back in 1998, most of us played this on a K6-2 something or other, or a faster pentium MMX with maybe a voodoo 1 or 2 card and a few were lucky enough to have a pentium II which meant they bought a new PC in the very same year as Half-life released and spent probably 2 000 - 3 000 dollars on it. You could just be bad at the game and explore, finding all the stashes of med kits and secrets and somehow bumble your way through eventually. Dying and restarting was quite painless so it just sort of worked. You could be great at quake and have a good enough PC just to blast your way through the game. You can bunnyhop around like a lunatic at great speed. The game is harder if you do this since you miss most of the health kits and weapons and expose yourself to enemies more. It sort of magically balances itself out and if you play more aggressively you have to play a lot better. You can play it kind of like a stealth game. Creeping around and planting satchels and throwing snarks around corners and sneaking up on enemies and giving them both barrels. On low spec machines you kind of had to play it that way. On a pentium MMX or K6-2 without a voodoo you would have gotten somewhere around 10-20 FPS in software (especially when it counts and there are lots of enemies). You had to play it that way and it worked fine. RPGs that try to accomodate different playstyles and skill levels simply have multiple classes and a difficulty slider and tips you can turn on and off, multiple branching areas where you can choose what to do, multiple ingame professions and skill trees. Half-life did it with a single class, in a linear experience, with no skill trees and a difficulty selector that you didn't have to bother with. That's magic. You can't design it that way intentionally.

Oh well NOW she's gotta try Black Mesa! Giving me a craving to do the same, especially given how goated the Gluon gun is in that game.

I didn't make it through Half-Life 1 until Black-Mesa because I wasn't picking up on where I was supposed to go next or what I could interact with. I believe I had played portal 1/2 and maybe Half-Life 2 at that point. Modern games do so much more with subtle lighting queues and other tricks to help guide the player through the levels. Congrats on making it through the game! Thanks for the entertainment!

For future reference or for anyone who doesn’t know this already, if you are getting motion sick in a game bump up the field of view, that will usually help.

Can we also get a video of her actual playthrough tho, without the narration? The narration is fun, of course, but it's also fun to see full playthroughs.
