@AkazaAKAbasketball yeah! In Giyu's past, it's revealed that when Sabito left an injured 13 year old Giyu into another boy's hands, that boy was Murata, and they were in final selection together. Furthermore, in the Sunrise Countdown arc, Giyu calls for Murata by name to help an immobile Tanjiro. Murata seems surprised but extremely happy that Giyu remembered him and his name, stating "we came from the same batch." (Or something similar, can't quite remember what he said.) Also, while Urokodaki isn't the only water breather, it's stated that Murata uses water breathing as well, albeit it's not as strong as Tanjiro or Giyu's breathing, which could also contribute to why they were in the same final selection, and why Sabito chose Murata of all the other children their age on the mountains to look after Giyu. Also here's some more bonus facts about Murata, for those who are interested! Murata became a demon slayer after all of his living relatives have been slaughtered by demons. Because of him being the same age as Giyu, they were both 13 during final selection, meaning Murata lost his family at a young age. Another fact is that once, Murata was complimented by his "first love", who said that they liked his hair, so from that day forward, he puts lots of care into his hair, insuring that it looks nice by using hair oils and other products. These facts, along with the waterbreathing facts, come from both the official manga series, and the official fan book! Anyways, sorry for the long explanation, but yes! He is the same age as Giyu. Which is humorous because his main friend group is made up of children that are 8 and older.

To be honest it doesn't make sense that senjuro, kotetsu and the butterfly girls (kiyo, naho and sumi) are in the kamaboko squad, it is supposed to be based on demon slayers and they are not, even though aoi doesn't fight she is a demon slayer, They also have no prominence and are extras. I don't want to sound rude or anything, it's just that I wanted to share my opinion and I understand that it is your AU.
