American Flyer, Lionel, Marx, & the other model train manufacturers did come up with some clever ideas for accessories!

hunting around for motivation for my most challenging model locomotive project... found a old 290 american flyer in need of A LOT of love this december at a train show, wanted to add a s scale to my collection, and i felt so sorry for this old engine in a barn find like condition. over half the paint was gone and had two big chips in the shell. as someone that loves to punish there self with a challenge, i just had to bring the poor thing home. amazed that it ran as well as it did after a quick cleaning and re oil. the shell took all the beating and protected the chassis vary well. after doing a full rebuild of the chassis, runs like new. i had to file off the old damaged molded on handrails on the shell and install hand made wire ones, and using a lot of dent filler on the body to fill in the two holes and other age defects and casting creases. coming a long well but still much to do to complete a full restoration and a few small added details, well wish me luck! why share this here? im stuck at home and no one to share things to that would care... lol

I have a interesting story. I traded a Cleveland Indians for a red baldwin american flyer. Got two cars with it and a transform.

Gee, I wish us kids had this instead of video games. I would open a model railroad club but no other kids are interested.

Peter Ronney. Too bad but when the kids outgrow the video games in 10 years trains and modeling will look more attractive.

These are fun movies, but the screaming kids, the train noises and the cows bellowing are really damned annoying to my ears. Guess that's why I wouldn't have DCC trains on my layout...if I had a working layout. I like nice, quiet, silent electric power for my locos. :D

13thBear The new american flyer GP7 sounds are not that bad.
@brettcheeseman11544 жыл бұрын
i would like sound, but not super loud stuff, just soft chuffing and whistles at my control, as if i am up way above watching the action down at the world, rather then the sound of a chugging locomotive from another town when i'm in three towns over like you usually get, dcc sound doesn't have to be super loud, but people choose that anyway for some reason
