Being a child of the 80s and 90s to a single mother, there is a huge difference in the way single moms are allowed to behave. They don't call it the dead beat dad era for no reason. Women are to blame for a portion of this though, because back in the 80s and 90s women could just request full custody and would be granted it with full impunity, and the dad would get slammed with unreasonable child support fees and would have to go to court and fight for visitation rights. A single mom held all the cards and lots of dads would just bail. For the few dads that stuck around and wanted to be in the life of their kid, they had to put up with a bunch shit. That's why this scene is important because it captures a glimpse of what it was like. Trey's mom is allowing him to go live with his father, and furious is even thanking her for it. Nowadays it's much different. A court will typically order split custody of children, which means the kids will have to live with mom for a week, then dad for a week. The only times you see full custody now is if it proven one parent can't provide a home to the kids, in which case they will be responsible for paying child support. Any other living arrangements can be negotiated. The woman no longer gets all the say and determine the outcome of who gets the kids.
@Wolf10media10 ай бұрын
Bonus points that both parents have good respect for each and couldn't live together due to differences. But ultimately knew their child need structure in their lives. She came with Trey at a time where Furious was on the road to bettering himself as a man.😊

Point how the teacher asks the mother about her education and intelligence. This isn’t just showing the ‘life of Tre Styles’ but is showing in general, the racial tension between white and coloured people. How inner city people are perceived. And how the teacher says ‘His father?’ Assuming that black inner city folks, by stereotype, are raised without their fathers/single parent. Etc. Singleton was a genius🙌🏼

It’s not racist to notice patterns though. Today over 70% of black children don’t have a father in the home - is it racist to say this fact? Of course not .. Btw racism exists between all groups! I find it comical how some only think racism exists between whites and blacks
@babyhandgrenade4004 Жыл бұрын
Yeah we don't say coloured anymore. It wasn't okay back then and it isn't okay now. It's racist. And by the way since you're probably not aware of this seeing as how he use that outdated word, it's not okay to call Asians Oriental anymore either. It's 2023, get with the program.

We had to get from over there. We did our chores did an little bit of yard work we didn't get no Allowance 😂. Dad was an little strict on us but I'm glad he was because he kept us from going down the wrong Road my dad taught us how to keep the house clean and pay bills and go to work everyday even taught us how to Drive. Also taught us how to stand up for ourselves. My dad still lecture us in our 40s 😂 dad always gonna be dad I'm thankful that he still with us will be turning 75 next month

That’s because the government makes it seem like working your children or disciplining them in anyway is neglect or abuse nowadays.
