Love the demonstration and you explain the concept well. My only issue is that you use mass and weight interchangeably (force in grams) which can be confusing. Just call it a 10-newton (or even use pounds) weight from the beginning and it will be much clearer.

Great video. Clear, good examples. If you don't mind, I have a question about the technology you need to make videos like this. I have a Mac and a cheap webcam. What else would I need? Hey viewers, Mr. Anderson circled pressure to say it is scalar but pressure is just a force/area and force is vector then, how pressure could be scalar?
@waqasahmad29397 жыл бұрын
Pro Gamer when we put a gas in the cylinder/container it exerts pressure(F/A) in all the direction across the walls of that cylinder/container thus the direction of quantities involved in pressure remain fixed pressure become scalar quantity.

265K views at this writing and mass/weight (scalar/vector) are consistently confused in the video. Major problem. Mass is a scalar to be measured on a balance in metric units of kg or g. Weight is the vector to be measured on a scale in units of N. The only reason that stupid scale is labeled in g is because mass and weight are proportional since W = mg. This confusion of mass/weight will lead to problems with all of Newton's Laws of Motion and Gravity and Satellites and Energy - basically all of Mechanics. These will help with that distinction: Mass vs Weight, Balance vs Scale: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2ndY4mtqad7iaM I Was Wrong - Mass vs Weight: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2Sqq56Lo7-cq7M

Around 8:18 of the video he's talking about how both scales are supporting the kg weight at a angle both with 1kg of force. I thought kilograms were a unit of mass and we use newton's as a unit of force but after watching this it confuses me alot can someone please explain and clarify why this is.
@argus13929 жыл бұрын
+Batroc Y I think its because weight is also measured in kilogerams altough its just the force of gravity? Altough, i think there is a specific unit for it like a " force-kilogram" or something like that :P

Nice video. Except that "saying 1000 gram weight" is not entirely correct in Physics. I wanted to show this to my students but i couldn't because i already taught them to express quantities in their correct units. Gram is the unit of mass, weight is measured in Newtons.
