first off, thank you Mr. Anderson for these videos. second, THIS is the way we should learn, im interested, i can rewind when i miss something, i can pause and come back later, i can ask you or the comments if i have questions, school needs to be just a room full of computers. i could have read this from a book, yea, but i gotta buy the 80$ book, go get it, find the chapter i want, and then skim over until i find the info i need. OR........ google mr anderson and find his awesome videos.

To clarify, a lancelet is not a vertebrate. However, it is a member of the chordate phylum. In other words, it is an invertebrate and it is very closely related to vertebrates. Fantastic video, thank you

The celeomate-aceleomate split is outdated. Protostomes are split into ecdysozoa/spiralia
@suelane36282 жыл бұрын
Animals predated the Cambrian explosion and molecular dating suggests up to 800mya. Granted the Ediacaran's don't obviously belong to modern day Phyla; though there is a suggestion that there are representatives of Placozoans and even primitive stalked Echinoderms. Also fossilised worn casts and trails suggest an earlier date for bilateral symmetry.

Love these videos! My bio teacher referred my class to your videos, since the AP curriculum is close to identical to the 11U curriculum (the Canadian curriculum in Ontario). She told us that she has based some of her lesson plans off these videos and it's super helpful just to reinforce the lesson with the video.

2:15 The first animals appeared way earlier than that. Fossils of animals go back in the Ediacaran, and there is evidence for animals originating over 600 million years ago. www.pnas.org/content/101/17/6536.full#sec-2

Hey Mr. Anderson, I thought Sponges and other organisms in phylum Porifera were sessile. But you are saying that all animals are motile? Which one is correct
@marisolbalderas92297 жыл бұрын
I know it's a little late, but he said that animals were motile at one point in their life. Sponges are motile early in their development, but later become sessile.
