Hey Trev. Nice to see your take on this. I felt the same about the handle initially, but you get used to it and it's actually pretty comfortable. I've considered adding liners to thicken it up a bit, but I'll probably never bother. I don't think you can buy one without a sheath. That spare one I sent you was a replacement sent by BPS for one that had a warped blade. My cousin claimed that warped one with sheath, that's why no sheath. A new sheath is under 15 euro on their site (fits a companion well too). I can't make a sheath for that. I can say that the customer service on that exchange was excellent. No questions asked, they just sent the replacement and told me to keep the other one. I like it more than my mora companion because of that high grind. I like how it carves, and even though it won't stay sharp forever, it strops back to good very easily with green compound. They do have a website with a few interesting patterns.

Agree I got used to them all fast. Some of my best knives and I have tons of Mora up to Becker(so under $100, but a lot of knives) and these must have some great heat treatment based on performance of the 5 models I have so far. The handle takes some adjusting to for sure, but I like it. I recommend trying Kurobara Japanese oil on the wood and even the steel. It will darken and protect the wood and acts like a mineral oil would only better for the steel, although I use a Tuff cloth for the steel on these. Anyway just thought this was a great video, a great comment, and I’m just happy to see BPS Knives getting attention. They are going through so much right now over there in the Ukraine.

@@RevanJJ Thanks for your comment and the advice on maintenance. Let’s hope these guys can get back to business in Ukraine as soon as possible.

Hi I emailed them a few months ago in 2021 and they will sell the knives without sheaths. I think you remove $15 off the price or thereabouts, they also sell them individually as said by other commentor. Excellent customer service. I hope they are all well. 🇬🇧 ❤🇺🇦

I have seen a couple of reviews of these. They do have a website if I remember rightly. Some very cheap stick tangs on there too from what I remember. They do look really good for the price.

Hi Tim, they seem to be pretty good value and a great starter bushcraft knife.

It’s a knife,you don’t have to glorify it or shun away from it,nothing wrong with it,good build and price,I don’t use it,my go to bushcraft knife is Mora Companion MG Carbon…BPS knives come sometimes kinda rough and unfinished but some sand paper can fix it,sheats are awesome 👏 no complaints 10/10..And Yes,from my own perspective I recommend BPS knives,because if I have only $25 CDN pesos I would buy Mora but for $50 CDN pesos I would get BPS…

Looks pretty decent Trev, for the cost you can't go wrong, I'd probably look at changing the handle or maybe colouring it darker, but I do like like, great look at it, stood up to the test, cheers.

Thanks Chris, the handle would be fairly easy to modify and you wouldn’t be too worried at that price. A good option I think.

Think that's a nice package for the money 😉 rather have the plunge line as tight to the handle as possible but apart from that it looks good.. can't beat the chest lever grip 👍
@bundufundi2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I found the plunge line to be quite strange as the rest of the knife is fairly well designed.

the sheath is worth $30 USD, looks like a great knife to keep in my truck camping kitchen box

It's a great option to have on hand for a great price. They weren't making them for a while due to the war but they might be up and running again now.

Nice review. One of my go to knife holds thumb up, blade facing away from me hand against the stomach pulling the object being cut. That and off hand thumb push cuts. And both seem to really work best in the portion of the blade closest to the handle. Ive never bought knives like these because of that. The portion of the blade i use a considerable amount, is not there.

Yes, a very useful and powerful type of cut. Carving knives like the Moras are very good in that regard.

Again never thought to use a knife as an axe thats why they make axes and saws lol

Nice review! Tis a bit odd about the plunge lines, but seems a good knife for the price. On the knife topic, have you had much use of your elmax trapper?

Cheers mate, I have used it a bit and the steel is really good, holds an edge well and the relatively small size feels good in the hand. So far I have just needed to stop it so haven’t tried sharpening yet.

May i ask what kind of jacket are you wearing in this video? :) thx!
@bundufundi Жыл бұрын
Hello, it is a Ventile Smock made by Hilltrek in Scotland. Hard wearing and natural material, I have found it to be a good alternative to modern plastic alternatives.

Cheap steel I got one that rust if you look at it I would never waste my money on another just to let ppl know what to expect...
@About23Goats3 ай бұрын
It’s carbon steel, a carbon steel knife that costs $300 will rust just as easily. BPS knives are an amazing deal. You get a great knife, a quality leather sheath, and a fero rod all for the same money you’d pay for just a sheath from another manufacturer.
