If you mean when you grab the handle is there play in the shaft when you pull it out, then yes that's normal. Thanks for watchin bud!!

If you want them to last and you want the best performance out of them, then definitely YES!! They do certain things to these reels because they know some guys won't do the maintenance, that's why I take them apart as soon as I buy them to get all of the extra grease out of them and I can make them a whole lot smoother. Maintenance is the key to a smooth, long lasting reel. Thanks for watchin bud!!

As far as forgetting a washer I did not. The ratchet goes on the crank shaft first and the ratchet washer following that and then the drive gear. I have taken many reels apart and that's how I've seen them all set up. Now on top of the drag washers there is an optional washer that goes below the sleeve. I've seen those come in all different thickness'. Some have it and some don't. The washer is optional, but I've had it on 80% of the reels I've taken apart.

It never hurts to check the bearing, but it doesn't sound like it to me. Most shaft bearings are packed in grease just in case the owner doesn't maintain them. I always flush mine out and oil them so they're smoother but then you have to maintain them once the grease is out. As far as a gummy feeling, I found out that the brand of grease makes it different depending on the reel and if you use to much. For example Hot Sauce is great grease but if you put too much of it in your reel will feel-

In this vid I greased the sleeve, which sits on top of the drag washers and inside the one-way clutch. I may not have shown that in this vid. The rollers inside the one-way clutch still have grease on them I'm sure, so I doubt it's causing the noise, but it's possible. I now de-grease the one-way clutch and oil it and the sleeve...a lot smoother in my opinion. Hope that helps you out and let me know if it don't. Thanks for watchin bud!!

At 11:16, didn't you forgot one washer on the inside of the big gear. It goes on first before the gear. That's what i thought. I might be wrong.

-kind of "gritty." For the longest time I thought I had like a gear grinding noise and I had to much grease on the spool shaft. So if it's only when you're reeling I would check the main gear and the worm gear to see if you have too much grease on. That's where I would start. It's hard to tell without feeling it. I hope that helps!!

Ya, i guess i was wrong. Im not trying to correct you or anything. You know way more about the inside components than i do. Which reminds me. My fathers reel is gummy when he reels in and i took it apart already and found nothing wrong with it. I havent tried taking the shaft off and checking the bearing inside though. Do you think that might be the problem?

where can i get that very small sleeve washer that sits on top the drag washers and under the one way clutch sleeve. i took reel apart and this washer was missing
@TackleJunky818 жыл бұрын
I believe that washer is optional. It just depends on the spacing. I've had reels that don't have it either.

My pro qualifier squeaks when I reel it. I lubed everything I can think of. Is there something I am missing that can cause this?

Just curious if you have any experience with the bass pro shops MegaCast bait caster. I took it apart and lubed it. When I put it back together the spool runs backwards and it won't kick the paw back into place. Any help would be appreciated.
@TackleJunky8110 жыл бұрын
I have never had that reel apart, but they're all pretty similar. Sounds like you have the metal washer that sits on the shaft below the gear on backwards. If it is on backwards the spool will not reengage.

Would there be a noticeable difference in speed retrieval between a reel 7.1:1 and a 7.5:1? Thanks
