I hope you guys enjoyed the video, Hayato is a complete beast and is one of the most passionate climbers I know. He literally puts in blood, sweat and tears (of happiness) in order to make BPUMP a better gym and improve eveyone's climbing level. Go and check out his insta!!! I was sick for the past week and just realized that I only put in the description that this isn't BPUMP, just so you know this is Rocky Shinjyuku, but don't worry, we'll make another video at BPUMP if you guys enjoyed this one. Happy Climbing!

To be fair Rocky gyms are maybe the softest gyms in Tokyo besides Noborocks, but a 初段 anywhere is impressive regardless 💪🏼 I am curious whether 初段s are classified as V7s or 8s in V grade reference?
@CrispyCrimpsClimbing
@CrispyCrimpsClimbing Ай бұрын
I haven't been to noborock but I've heard the rumors 😂 Yeah shodan is a tricky grade that's why in my road to 2D I try not to say V10 since the explanation is long and boring If you look at the grading chart in AkiPan shodan is V8 at ogipan it's V7 if I'm not mistaken At fish and bird it's V8 and even on the topo for some areas it's V8 So I just use the akipan reference since I spend 95% of my time here I do think there is always a "it depends" argument so I would rather just say it in japanese (but most people don't know what it means) 😢

@@futtsunohi gyms are a whole different story but for outdoors depending on the area 初段 is usually between v7-v8 (7a+, 7b). 段 grades are more of ranges and a bit harder to map directly to a single v grade.

Hayato climbing style seems to be very similar to janja. Just freakishly strong in shoulders and back. Dynamic but always controls the swing perfectly.

He does have amaizing flow! He also teaches the intermediate dojo at BPUMP and its usually slab so he also has a good slab game, he's the whole package. I think if you follow his insta and tell him he climbs like janja he'll be really happy! It's in the description

I like your channel. You understood quickly that it’s not just about you (you are a very good storyteller which helps) but about the people in your world that won’t put themselves in front of a camera. That won’t tell their stories. Loved this video ❤

I am Japanese. I am sad that almost all people who watch this vid are non-Japanese. So maybe there are few people who can understand what they are saying in climbing. I have played climbing for about 2 years, but my best grade is about V4(3Q). So Japanese people who appear on this vid are top-climber in Japan. There are not so many people like them even in Japan. I learned it for the first time that "ガバ" is "jug" in English thanks to your vid.
