Kick off at 7.45 and he they let people in from 5 well that's a complete load of rubbish they don't let people in near 3 hours before kick off anywhere. So a 249 gramme drone will damage the pitch but 23 men in football boots won't.

The law i believe is not to fly over large crowds (it was when i got my operator ID), so on match day you can not fly over. But other than match day you should be able to fly in unrestricted air space.

Good job explaining and letting them know what you were going to do 👍. By the way a good app for the wind is UAV Forecast. You can set it to include gusts, different heights and max wind speed... Also the CAA define a crowd of people as 'A crowd is any group of people who cannot move away quickly because of the number of other people around them.' I'm not sure how they define quickly but there you go 🙂.

Good video. I’ve flown over some stadiums myself (inc Sheffield Wed & Leeds Utd) I’ve always unlocked it at home on the pc though. Much easier 😂 Have to say though.. I was surprised the DJI app accepted your unlock request on the match day. I always thought it would only unlock on days 48 hours either side of a match day. When I’ve unlocked mine it’s always given me a huge window (24 hours I think) when I’ve only needed a few minutes really. This is why I was surprised it unlocked yours on the match day. Maybe I’ve been doing it wrong 👍 😊

When you put in the unlock request, there are two ways of doing it.. the way I do it is to select the Geo zone I wish to unlock (stadium) but you can also manually draw an area on the map, but this is a bit more complicated and they ask for extra details. Maybe BP did it this way and it lets you fly on a match day? I wouldn’t have thought so but you never know.

Yes, what is a crowd is a good question. Ultimately, it will be for a court to determine, but the drone code does now say that pilots should consider a crowd to be a group of people who cannot move away quickly because of the other people around them. Great video as always.

To answer your question for the definition of a crowd..... 2 is a couple 3 is a crowd This is true when employees are talking during working hours and obviously not working. In all other occasions "crowd" is not precisely defined.

Finnish Traficom (Traffic and communication), who controls drones as part of the EU rules, they have translated the EU regulation for Crowd to be dense as something that you can't easily walk thru, so something like a concert etc. Full stadium could also fit that description too. And ≤249g drone can fly with in 50m, in slow speeds (

It was 1000 or more (see the Air Navigation Order Article 95 para 2(b)) but article 95 has been "omitted" entirely as from 31/12/2020 (see the Air Navigation Amendment Order 2020, section 1 articles 1(2), 8, and 13). Even so, it still only applies to tightly packed crowds/groups, but now of any size. It is the crowd density that is important.

Under English law a landowner owns the airspace above his land (unless it has been expressly excluded from the lease or transfer to him) and it is therefore trespass if a developer or its contractor allows a tower crane jib to swing across land owned by other parties. An adjoining owner can obtain an injunction to prevent such trespass without needing to show that any damage has occurred. An ‘Oversail’ licence is required and a fee must be negotiated in which the landowner can effective ask whatever they like.

hi mate, thanks for the comment, I would do the following steps: 1. go on the CAA site and get an operator and Flyer ID (costs about £10 a year) by taking the online test 2. buy a cheap second hand DJI mini 2 if you cant afford a new drone 3. go to local open spaces and practise flying the drone about, preferably when no people are around (see my first video where I did this here kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2qVmmOhftmLpbM) 4. read up on the drone laws and others laws about public rights to photography 5. watch other auditors on here to see how they respond when people confront them 6. pick some local businesses and just go do it!

Well no, all the CAA are doing is saying what you can do from the CAA point of view. Yes, the drone wouldn’t take off until I applied for an unlock on the DJI app, you then get the code and send it to the drone and it then works!
