برطانیہ میں تقریباً سولہ لاکھ پاکستانی تارکین وطن آباد ہیں۔ ان میں سے اکثر اپنے بچوں کے لیے جیون ساتھی کا انتخاب پاکستان سے ہی کرتے ہیں۔ پاکستان سے کوئی داماد یا بہو انگلینڈ پہنچے، تو کئی مسائل جنم لے لیتے ہیں۔ ایسے ہی مسائل حل کرنے کے لیے ’منگیتروں کی یونین‘ بھی موجود ہے۔
This DW Urdu special report explores the challenges faced by Pakistani families in the UK when they bring a son-in-law or daughter-in-law from Pakistan. With around 1.6 million Pakistani immigrants in the UK, many still prefer to find life partners for their children back home. However, this often leads to various issues, including integration challenges and even fraud. In this video, we talk to families, community leaders, and members of the "Fiancees Union" to understand how the community is addressing these problems and supporting couples in navigating life in the UK.

Not all spouses and their families treat son/daughter in law like a slave. In family courts many newcomers make false accusations against the spouse and family to separate. After separation some marry to ones they were actually engaged to someone in Pakistan. Spouses who made sacrifices to call them to England are left devastated and on top of that they loose their houses. However not all newcomers are like this. Still it’s a big risk.

Why parents are searching for bride or groom from Pakistan?. Parents should focus on local people first (UK residents). The cultural difference is huge and both parties sometimes get a culture shock. So stop this Mangaitar union and empower young people to search their own lifepartners and parents should be supportive as well.
