Brașov looks much different now than when I was there a few times from 1978 to 1980, visiting UTB Tractorul. Thank you for the memories even though they were not all good!

Thank you for the comment! Sorry to hear that you have some bad memories from those travels. Most Romanians likely feel the same about the country during the late 70s/early 80s. :/ I'd be curious to know what you find different about it, if you'd like to share.

The big difference is that it was relatively a poor country under a totalitarian system. So almost everything was in a neglected state. The feeling of oppression was palpable. I've been back to other East European countries years later and made similar observations but Romania has so far been missed off my itinerary. Your video has made me realise that I am missing something. Hopefully I have not left it too late as I'm getting a bit old for intensive travelling.

@@bernardlovegrove7613thank you for explaining. Yes, I think the country has changed in many ways since 1989 and while it is still weak economically, there's also a feeling of (over)abundance in some sectors nowadays. It may be interesting for you to visit it again. I'll post a few more videos from my trip, all from the surroundings of Brasov. Peles Castle and Bran-Sirnea-Pestera are favorites for their architecture and scenery. Thank you again for your comments!
