Brabham BT21 - HSCC Legends of Brands Hatch Superprix Part 1- my weekend of Racing

The HSCC legends of Brands Hatch Superprix saw the Historic F3 screamers contest the 3rd round of the championship. This video is of my weekend driving the Brabham BT21 and I absolutely loved it.
Qualifying was red flagged half way through and I was in 17th place with a 1:49.355 lap time. however when the session was restarted my lap time didn't improve whilst others did and I ended up 22nd on the Grid. But this was a full second faster than I achieved last year!!!
In Race 1 I made up a few places at the start and finished in 19th place. However my lap times had fallen to 1:47.280 and that was faster than bunch of cars I was catching towards the end of race 1.
I Started race 2 in 18th place on the grid and had a great battle with a couple of cars eventually finishing 18th but with a fastest lap of 1:45.132. This was a huge improvement for me and for the first time I really think something clicked into place.
There will be 2 more parts, firstly a Trackwalk of Brands and secondly the full race from the in car camera.
Next outing is at Oulton Park at the End of the Month, It is my intention to be there but we are getting very close to harvest so wee will see.

Martin - sorry to have missed you at both Thruxton and Brands but your great videos - which keep getting better and better - make me realise how much I miss racing these cars, especially on open pipes! I hope you make it to Oulton as it has special significance for me. In 1962, 62 years ago, my father took me to the Gold Cup as a 9 year old for my first race meeting and I was captivated. The F3 screamers were subsequently one of my favourite cars to follow as a teenager and to be able to race one now completes the dream. Hope you have a great harvest but you are also at Oulton!

These get better and better.....thanks for the work Martin. I just love the helmet hair after race1 and your sheer joy after race 2. It's a great reminder to those of us who've been doing this forever, regardless of which end of the grid, that the majority of us do it for the sheer fun and the joy of driving a car fast. Well done on a great weekend. Now, do a vlog about that piece of big yellow kit behind you at the end.....😊

I’m just grateful I still have hair. I’m sure I will soon get a call from McLaren or even Ferrari but whilst they are working out my signup fee I’ll just keep enjoying life😂😂😂

A great vlog. The look on you face after race 2 was a picture. I always say to racers that you’re living the dream. Well done and I’ll look out for the no 84 at future events

Great vlog Martin, your videographer while you were racing did a great job 👍……..a remote mic might be a good investment, when there’s background noise it’s difficult to hear you all the time. Look forward to your next installment…..🤞the weather plays ball and you can get the yellow beast on the go 😊

Thanks Steve. Jane does all the videos, would you believe on an iPhone!! A remote mic would be a good idea except I never know when I’m going to say anything and it all adds to the spontaneous randomness of my vids. I think the wheats are a week away. And not just because I want to go racing!!!
