I always cry at the last shot too. Carmy knows now that Mikey had confidence in him, maybe more than himself. Ritchie gave Carmy the letter at the perfect time because their struggles throughout the season wouldn't have happened if they found the money any earlier. They all wouldn't have the same level of respect and understanding of each other. Now they can all build something together after their collective loss.

Mikey cut off Carmy cuz he knew how dysfunctional his family and the restaurant at the moment was. And he was still aware of what Carmy was doing, getting better and better and better. Mikey dove deeper into debt and trying to make the restaurant work but couldn’t and dove into addiction and eventually depression. He knew Carmy had what it takes to make the place an established business. He just wanted to save Carmy from all the bs.

The way Jeremy Allen White killed that 7-minute monologue. JeeeeSUS. Pure talent and dedication. This whole cast is incredible. Regarding the money (I'm still not through season 2 so idk if it gets explained), I wonder if Mikey knew he wasn't going to make it, so he let the restaurant go and started saving money away knowing/hoping that one day, Carmy could make the restaurant what they had hoped. Like he told Tina, there was "no point" in paying the vendors - he knew he couldn't hack it, but his baby brother could.

I think for ur questions mikey was ofc on a downwards spiral and like Tina said during that spiral he wasn’t paying his vendors so he was hiding that money in the cans and he hid it cos he knew he was at his limit and didn’t want that money to be taken by his uncle or the vendors cos he wanted it for Camry to let it rip on creating the bear

Every time they show a complex dish, Sheera gives the stink face. I think she's a "keep it simple" person, which is totally fine. Everyone has a different palate. The one thing everyone agrees on, though, is that Marcus' pastries make them hungry.

The power, the sheer depth of emotions that Jon Bernthal can emote and elicit from just that one look...if we had only ever gotten one season of this show, this ending would have been completely worth it. Season 2 is definitely much more tumultuous and harder to sit through at some points, but the character development - especially among the rest of the crew - is so great and inspiring. Good luck sitting through all of it if/when you guys get to it though. Especially for "Fishes"...god, that was brutal 😬 Such a great series, really looking forward to Season 3 when it comes out. And...don't take this the wrong way, but I really hope the series doesn't go past four seasons at the absolute max, I think this is definitely a show where I can see the quality of it dip the further you try to stretch it out. Give us one, maybe two more good seasons more, and that should be it.

Carmy gave him freedom to experiment and try new things in a workplace that's already pretty intense, but not when there's like 100 fucking orders pending. Like who wouldn't flip out on Marcus in that situation. Carmy tries to put himself in other's shoes and understand their actions to apologise, Marcus doesn't even attempt to understand Carmy's pov. Im more pissed on the writers than on Marcus. This was a different version of Amber's antics in Invincible lol.

Worked as a chef for 12 years and have run my business for 18, and one of the hardest things is gently giving context for people's enthusiasm without killing it. Syd's energy is AMAZING, but what she doesn't get is that you have one chance to make an impression. If the risotto isn't better and/or different than what can be found at 15 other restaurants nearby, that's all people will remember.

I cannot fathom how the writers, despite creating such good character arcs and dialogue, didn't make Syd and marcus apologize back to Carmy, and don't even touch up on it in s2. Really made me lose interest in Marcus' development in s2. I kinda understand syd's place, since she was pretty much bullied by richie for 6 eps until her breaking point, but Marcus' almost child like ignorance of everything around him despite being a grown ass dude, really left a sour taste, considering how Marcus doesn't show a hint of guilt or remorse and doesn't even try to express his regret to Carmy. This could have been the most flawless first season of a show I had seen in a long time.

I'm fine with Syd not apologizing tbh, when he screamed at her to get off expo she was literally doing nothing wrong lol so the way he spoke to her was completely unnecessary. She's the only one who never treated him like trash and always showed him respect, even when he was blaming her for stuff she didn't do she never disrespected him in front of everyone like that so she was the last person who deserved it. Pre-orders or not. And she never got an actual apology either so it is what it is. Marcus got a genuine "I'm so so sorry chef" but Sydney got a vague text with no mention of sorry. And he knew he was wrong, you don't register it in the chaos of the episode but you can hear it in his voice the next time he calls her name and when he speaks to her before she leaves. His voice acting in this episode is outstanding because he's not even on screen but you can hear the regret and worry in his voice when he's talking to her as she's leaving. Also were the pre-orders really her fault? Watch the episode again, Carmy told her HE turned on the to-go tablet so why didn't he see the pre-orders were on? And restaurants cancel pre-orders all the time, he just wanted a reason to go off at everyone and let out his frustration and you'll find out why he's like that next season.

this comment is it. also syd wasn't originally going to quit. he yelled at her multiple times this episode and she took it and tried to go on working, but the whole situation with richie being an asshole and then everything else on top of it was too much and it piled up till she quit. she said before that she didnt want to work in another kitchen w a psycho screaming behind her, and thats what she was seeing in that moment, so she left. her apology is the fact that she came back.

Mikey knew he was in a dark hole and how he was going to get out. He has his little brother full of promise and talent wanting to open a restaurant together. He believed he was going to just fail and ruin it. So he pushed Carm away and planned to embezzle the money and leave it behind for Carmy so he can do it by himself. So he left the note with "let it rip" what he would say to Carm when he was afraid to take a step like opening his own restaurant.

Nope, doesn't matter what Marcus and Sydney were doing. HE is the boss, he should go to Marcus and tell him to get back to work. There's a difference between correcting your staff and screaming profanities at them. Ya'll are wild if you can't understand that. You LITERALLY see the trauma he has from the head chef that was doing the exact same thing to him in his flashbacks and you think it's ok for him to do it to them? Sydney even told Carmy 2 episodes ago that when she started her business it was the first time she didn't have some psychopath yelling at her. And then Carmy yelled at her like a psychopath even though she's been helping him make the place strong. Yes, she messed up but so have all of them. We the audience know Carmy is going through personal issues but when you're at work that's not your employees business, that's for you to leave that at home and not take it out on your staff.

He left him the money and the restaurant because he felt like was prob going to kill himself. In this way, it forces him to get out of the restaurant that was ruining his Carmy's life. His death was the reason he came back, the money was a backup for carmy, and the reason was so he wouldn't cut himself off from his family anymore (ie as explained at the beg of this ep). Micheal never stopped loving Carmy, it was only that he was going through shit and couldn't communicate it, so he did what he thought was best.
