Great looking truck, Steele ! Great rebuild. . . I have a 1980 352 Pete, 400 Big Cam, 3:55s & RTO12515. I've got to be running around 80 mph in 14th, 2300-2400 rpm) to even get into 15th. Then the ram's drop to 1800 . . . Originally came with 4:11's & 10 speed. It's an ol' Sam Tanksley truck..... manual steering, windows, single bunk. They run team ! Trying to redo it . . . Drove one of those 900’s for 28 years I’m so done driving that thing and I can’t believe I drive it so many miles guess when you don’t know the difference you think you got something. A big cam 4 with 550 to 600 horse ya right guess again, I’ve rebuilt a bunch of 855’s none of them will touch a good 4-1/4 cat
@bradsteele43692 жыл бұрын
No disrespect bu You don't know as much as you claim then there are plenty of bigcams running the road with way more HP than mine. It takes atleast 500hp to use high gear with a 15 over and 308 rears. And I have had plenty of drivers talk about how good their c15 cats and x15 Cummins do until we get in the hills. Then all I hear about is how the fuel filter must be stopped up.
@jsd7952 жыл бұрын
@@bradsteele4369 you are full of it. Even a lowly 310 horse 3406 will out pull nearly any 855 much less a four and a quarter.
@bradsteele43692 жыл бұрын
@@jsd795 ok if thats what you think. But like I said mine isn't like most big cams and I'd put it agents any b or c model cat that's running the road every day hauling freight. Most of them couldn't pull high gear with my 308s
@jsd7952 жыл бұрын
@@bradsteele4369 its not what I think, its what I know because I've alternated driving between the two engines for many years. BTW if your running one that's turned up with a 15over and 308's then you must be going downhill the whole way or only pulling 30 or 40 thousand pounds because otherwise an 855 will absolutely fry on a warm day much less a hot day lugging it in that way not to mention the stretched head bolts and the damage being done to the bottom end bearings and crankshaft.
@bradsteele43692 жыл бұрын
