Yes, the Frontman’s (001) story about his wife is very much true. If you remember in the first season while infiltrating as a fake guard, Jun-ho finds out his brother, the Frontman/In-ho participated and won these games in 2015. The reason was because of his wife and her health that he mentions, but when he got out with the prize money it was too late, his wife lost her battle so he lost her and his unborn baby. Then after that his story is unknown regarding how he ranked up to becoming the Frontman.

Well after what we learned from the guy who recruits, they “level” up based on their loyalty so one can assume he probably was very STRICT and followed the previous owners rules. Theres other theories that he’s related to the creator of the games (the old guy)

Yes. Feel like it was intentional to show how elderly people may at first not understand a/o look down on peeps that are different, b/c they simply just never encountered/got to know these people during their life, but once they do get to know someone personally, who is also a good person, they warm up to them and see them as a person/friend they like to associate with, rather as an "other" they don't want to give a chance to associate with.

I love how they show that Jun-ho can clearly hear one gunshot from outside the motel, then later we see that Gi-hun has a whole shooting range in that same motel. 😂

I think there’s a detail in the episode that might clear up the confusion. The motel rooms where the shooting range is located actually have soundproofing on the walls-those black sponge-like panels are designed to block sound. That’s probably why the gunshots from the shooting range weren’t heard throughout the motel. But when the gunshot happens in a different room in the motel, there’s no soundproofing, so it’s audible. It’s a small but important detail that explains the difference!

Some of the locations in the first episode are places I pass by daily (one of the subway station platform is the same one I use everyday) so this show is very local to me but I love watching reactions from foreigners about the games!

so many people feel the same way you do about the bread and lottery, and I understand the instinct to say that they should take the bread. however, my first thought was "what is a piece of bread going to do? keep me alive another hour?" if you feel lost in the world or that your purpose is lost, a piece of bread will only prolong that suffering. a lottery ticket, while you have a very small chance of getting anything, may actually give you a chance at a life. also, you can easily steal a piece of bread. much harder to steal a lotto ticket. beyond that, who knows why they refused the bread. maybe they just ate. for me, I'm deathly allergic to the bread so I wouldn't be able to take it. I think it is such an interesting study of humanity though.

The voting also forces them to stay unless the leavers are in the majority. In the first game about 15 or so didn’t come back I think.

Praying on vulnerable people in desperate financial situations is so so cruel, even when framed as a "choice" with an out. What about those who died in the first game that had no real choice once they realised it was life and death. For others, their lives were so unbearable that risking death felt like their only option. Even if participants were to sign a clause that stated elimination meant death, I think the creators still are solely at fault/responsibility. They knowingly manipulated the most desperate and vulnerable group, hiding behind the guise of a "moral high ground" by offering a false choice. It’s not a real choice it’s coercive circumstance, where pressures/conditions pretty much prevents actual consent. anways... i love the show and your commentary ijbol
