I like how they took the shape of the 3 and sized it up for the 4. Most other brands don't do that, they make an entirely different knife shape. I'd like to see Giant Mouse do the same to the GMF1... size it up to a 4 finger handle and keep the same shape and relative size (blade to handle)

Great review, Aaron. Glad you gave your hand size -- VERY helpful. I've used the G3 (M390) as an EDC for about a year -- and used it at work (commercial cleaning) for cutting zip ties, twine, surgical hose, shrink wrap, etc. My larger hands don't have any real estate left on the G3, but it works for me ... and it's sheople-friendly. Truly an outstanding knife! In my opinion, the higher quality commands the higher price tag. After this review, I'm definitely getting a G4. I will welcome the increased real estate for my larger paws.

Aaron I have knife issues. I just love em and always find room for another beauty. So let me state that M390 is an awesome stainless steel for a pocket knife. But for Bush Craft I stick with 1095 or my preferred 3V. That being said for a small fixed blade that has great ergos S35VN has become one of my favorites. No I’m not going to baton nor pry with it. So I would be interested in your take comparing the ergos and overall utility of the Gaurdian 3 vs White Rivers M1 Pro Back Packer. I recently purchased the upgraded White River version the Caper with Micarta scales. Albeit it’s a little weird lookin the ergos and slicing are excellent. I’m debating adding the Guardian 3 to my small stuff. My dedicated Bush knife Is a barkiie Bravo 1.5 in 3V. And I just love that knife. Nice review.

Great video! I love my Guardian 3. I got the GPKnives exclusive with jade g10, black stonewashed blade in Rex 45 for $110 U.S. If you're looking for a bigger option I'd recommend the Lion Steel M4 Blade HQ exclusive in M4 steel for about $150 U.S. but it has gone on sale a couple of times recently for $115 U.S. It's an awesome 3.75" carry option. Tops small or regular B.O.B. Is also an excellent choice but is definitely more suited to bushcrafting Thanks.

Aaron that Guardian 4 is right up my alley. If these are the knives I'm thinking of I only breezed through the selection on Blade HQ I believe and that was because of the prices. I should be used to the sticker shock by now when I'm looking at knives. Hopefully they have a 5" blade with super steel without going too much higher than $200. On a side note I fell back in love with the Tops Mountain Lion. If you ever get the opportunity to check one out do it. If I had to choose between the ML and the Esee 5 it would be heartbreaking to give one up. Mike

Those are nice looking knives, but too small for most of the uses I would have for one. I have two from Schrade about that size and have them either in my EDC and backpack as a backup knife, and one in my collecton.

I’ve been researching the RAT-3 and BK-14 for an EDC/Hunting Knife and then I spotted the Guardian 3 and 3.5’s on Amazon. I like these but they are a bit more in price and I don’t know if the Guardian is worth the extra Bread. Thank you my friend for the review

Beautiful blade shape. Steep price for utility, but the shape is great. The SOG Aegis is similar in shape, the Bradford is a nice quality upgrade from the Aegis. Between the TOPS Scandi blade and this, makes this a tough choice, LOL.

What's the difference between CPM and normal s30v?

+HauskojaVideoita CPM is an acronym: Crucible Particle Metallurgy. It's a process which basically results in a more even distribution of carbides in the steel. You can google the acronym and learn more if you're still interested.

There is no normal s30v, too much vanadium and alloy to be traditional ingot tech.

Just want to say thanks for this video, it helped me decide which one to get (first anyhow). I ended up getting the G3 first. But one suggestion if I may Aaron, and this is something I have not heard you talk about at all in any of your knife review vids, please in the future let us know what size your hands are so that we, the viewer, can better imagine how our respective hands would fit the given knife. I cannot over-stress this, without any idea of the size of your hands.....ok, I'll stop now...I'm such a jerk, here you are providing this great content for us and all I offer in return is wise-assness, I apologize.

I don’t know if that helps to be quite honest. For example I have to wear an extra large sized work glove because of my long fingers but despite the extra large gloves I buy, my fingers and hand as a whole are very slight for a man’s hand. I simply have long slender fingers but most men’s hands I shake engulf my entire hand usually and I can get away with a full grip on knives as small as the handle on a Benchmade Hidden Canyon. As a matter of fact the handle on the Hidden Canyon fits my fine featured hand like a glove…no pun intended. It’s VERY comfortable.

Guardian 3 has too short of a handle, Guardian 4 is nice but overall for the money I'd still go with the Fallkniven F1. Not only is the Fallkniven F1 more reasonably priced but it would also be more comfortable to use. Just my opinion of course and YMMV. I remember the original review and came away more impressed with the Smith & Sons Brave knife, however it is way too expensive still IMHO. I seriously doubt many who buy these high end bushcraft/survival knives really use it for that use, I bet most of these high end knives become collectibles and would hardly see dirt. They are just too pretty and way too expensive. Schrade says hello btw, lol! Thumbs up anyway!
