A distant cousin and now good friend I found via our DNA tests posted 'The Heart of the Midlands' web site with this video on it on my FB page after I posted that we were going to watch an old Time Team episode 'House of the White Queen (Groby, Leicestershire)'. So glad she did. I loved this so much. Was quite shocked that it only had 57 likes and had only been viewed by so few since 2017. Keeping this one to watch some mornings as a great start to the day. And will be watching other videos from your channel. Thank you so much for your amazing work.

Another beautiful video and amazing drone work. I once or twice have srambled up the hill to the tower. Nice capture, and stunning colour renditions and I am guessing this was shot early morning or late evening. Great video my friend.😀👍👍👍

Hello, I'm trying to promote the Leicestershire round and would like to use your footage to show were the path goes. would that be ok? Bradgate park wont allow me to fly my drone over Bradgate unfortunately.

i've sat up there at old john that many times day and night. years ago when there was a village in the park probably before the walled it off into the deer park they had a party and john the miller was killed by a large pole that was standing in the middle of the fire so they built old john as a folly in his honour

I am just becoming a little concerned that having invested in an expensive drone, we may end up having virtually nowhere to fly. For example, they have been banned from Derbyshire parks, including the Peak District, and we are told not to fly over private land, leaving practically nowhere. But can they really do that? No one owns the air space above their land, so that if you take off from a public place, and fly above 50 metres, and below 120 metres, you should be able to fly anywhere except restricted areas. This situation is only going to get worse with the proliferation of drones, with DJI promoting the use of the Spark everywhere, and with more and more irresponsible Spark footage appearing on KZbin. I would welcome the licensing of skilled and responsible pilots like you, (and I like to think, me), who would be allowed a little more freedom to fly, otherwise we could end up with the complete banning of drones here, as they have done in Sweden.

I know exactly what you're saying, but, like any upcoming industry, the government will just be wanting their piece of the pie for financial gain. New regulation will be coming no matter what people do. Just like cars, it doesn't matter what rules or tests are in place, there's no cure for stupid. As far as "no fly zones" go (i mean ones like bradgate park, not restricted airspace), I just take responsibilty for my own actions and carry out all flights in the safest way possible and always observe the rules about flying near people or congested areas. Like in this video, I spoke to the people who were up at Old John at the time and got their consent to fly over while they were at the top. This was filmed at around 5am when there wasn't anyone around. I think what places like the peak district and other places are doing is stopping people with drones becoming a pain for other people who want a quiet day out, I think if you can go to one of these beautiful areas, shoot it and leave without causing anyone a problem or even knowing you were there, then what's the problem? I think it would be hard to try and go after someone for doing this, as the worst thing you've done is maybe at a real stretch is tresspass with a drone. I think it probably comes down to the financial element again. If you're making good money off of a video at Bradgate Park, then like always, they're gonna want a slice of that action, which is only fair enough. Bottom line though, there is only one rule that needs to be observed... Dont be a dick. This is one of the easiest rules in life to follow, but unfortunatly so many people struggle so hard with it. Just make the most of while so many aspects are still a grey area

@@PaulBarrett I have really fond memories of slope soaring at Old John as a teenager. I echo all the points you stated above. I fly at old John sometimes with my drones...Like you said..don't be a dick. Sunday afternoon on a sunny weekend is asking for trouble. Beautiful video btw.
