You’re probably talking about when they hit internationally because when they first came out (1980) the had a very post punk skar band style with them taking a lot of inspiration from acts like T-Rex and XTC It was around the time of their 4th studio album ‘The Swing’ that they began to have their own original pop/rock/funk sound

Suicide. Ask Bob Geldof, he was a catalyst in the mindset MH was in at the time. Michael was cremated, his ashes divided between his mother and father (who were divorced) and Paula Yates, his girlfriend. His father’s portion were scattered at sea of Sydney. Paula’s portion is probably held by Paula’s daughter (Paula is dead). His mother’s portion were buried at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills (Los Angeles), dedicated to “American fans” by his mother.
