I've been to India 8 times to walk in the mountains including twice to the festivals in Haridwar. It' s an amazing country to visit and the Taj is fantastic ( pick your time when not busy ).

I stayed in Mumbai for a week , dear gods !! It is a hole .. Interesting for a day or two tow but it is a crazy place . I only ate where the bussiness men ate .. to expensive for the locals but very little for myself . I was there with others who ate in the streets because it was " authentic India " .. one or two almost shit themselfs to death !!

I've been to India and loved it, but I can understand why Karl had a miserable time... For one thing it is genuinely very loud and very crowded. The country as a whole has the same population density as New Jersey - considering it is 1/3 the size of the USA but has 4x as many people. And 22 of the world's most densely populated cities are in India. And the scale of Kumbh Mela is just insane - in 2019 apparently there were 200 million people there, including 50 million people on a single day (imagine the whole populations of California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, New Jersey, and Virginia all going to one city over a period of just a few weeks). I can't even imagine it.

I've been south-east asia and 1st reaction is: what the fuck is that....then bit later what the fuck is this. No worries, you get used to it except, i'm from Finland and our time is pretty much clock work. In thailand or philippines...even locals don't know when is it. That seriously bugs me...otherwise shitting in a hole...you have to shit somewhere, don't you...eye widening experiences and they keep up coming...every time
