Gonna have to side with Lucy on this one. There's a point at which something you see in fiction can be so unbelievable that it your disbelief is no longer suspended.

As far as movies being realistic? It greatly depends on whether or not it's being 'portrayed' as realistic. Because if we're calling something 'true' when it's not true, that's 'lying'. Most people for example don't believe that Superman is a 'real' entity. However, if your on a burning house you're going to want 'truthfulness' rescuing you, not projection.

I can understand what Lucy is talking about.. .but if we make movies with Lucy's idea... then the majority of movies would not be made. Star wars, Raiders... all movies. They are based on fantasies. As a war vet I know how a body reacts after being shot, movies don't show the reality..... real life is not cinematic.

They had to downplay the heroics of Desmond Doss in the movie “Hacksaw Ridge” because it would’ve seemed too unrealistic. Even the movie Wolf Of Wall Street seems unrealistic but it’s true. (Obviously scenes are embellished a little bit sometimes) but there’s no need for movies to be realistic. The John Wick/Mission Impossible/Jason Bourne/007/Equalizer franchises are no where near realistic. And I hate to even say it…Jackie Chan movies too… But that’s just me being a pessimist because I had to much to drink tonight. The Lion King is my favorite movie and an evil Lion singing with an army of Hyenas isn’t realistic. 😘

So, Brad is a "leaky tea-kettle of knowledge"? 🤔 I wonder if Bill Burr *really* has such poor instincts about his wife? I'm with Lucy, a movie should be physically realistic. A little girl dragging a huge guy is unrealistic. It just distracts me from the story. The fantasy element come from the broader story, not tiny little nit-sh!t details. Best Wishes, both. ☮

Elvis dated a minor, he didn’t marry one. We can debate the ethics of convincing a 14 or 15 year old’s parents to let her live at Graceland while he’s off sleeping with half of his co-stars. But he didn’t marry a minor. She was 23 when they finally got married and they’d known each other for nearly a decade at that point. I don’t know if that makes it any better, but that mentality at that time was shared by a lot of grown men. Get a girl when she’s young and she’s easier to control. Both of those guys ended up divorced, so I think they must have forgotten something.
