I lost my brother to covid, granted he had liver failure, but was on a donor list.....got covid and his lungs filled up with fluid, half covid half pneumonia.....since he got sick they kicked him off the donor list, and he passed...but we had 1 last good hooraw!

Your likes were at 91 and now it’s 92. Because I was born in ‘91 and now my dad’s the closest one in my life and he’s nearing eighty years old and I’m going to miss him. Lost my closest uncle due to overdose, my good fishing buddy to drowning, and my mom to suicide all in one year. I need to give up this beer for their sake. Sorry just ranting. Life is crazy. My dad and I were roofers.. I dropped out at 15 and immediately went to work.. I'm 30 now, I had an amazing 10 full years being stubborn, like a son usually is. Didn't think I learned a damn thing. It's been 7 years since I've stepped foot on a roof.. so naive, I finally took on another roof this week and back when he was with me I just didn't appreciate my time in the moment. This song breaks me, I kicked ass on the first job since I lost him in 7 years.. I used to get upset.. I used to fucking HATE it.. but even after 7 full years of grief I look up and asked him for some guidance and not once did I take it for granted.. I absolutely enjoyed working my ass off and doing my best to remember everything that man taught me. This song means more to me than I can explain, every time we would finish a job we would end up at the river and drink a beer.. don't take your time for granted. Enjoy every second you have with the people you love and the people who love you! I'm proud to say that I didn't get upset one time on this job, in grief it took me 7 years to rethink all of the skills that man taught me. And I don't think I've ever had this much praise from neighbors or family. Today was a great day! And this song isn't so sad to me anymore!

June 5 2024, I lost my best friend, to quote another Luke Bryan song my "blood brother". He was only 41 years of age, and we would spend many a night drinking beer and listening to music. I listened to the song the night I heard that he was gone, and literally cried. I am not going to be able to listen to this song or Blood Brothers and not think of him. He was my brother from another mother and I expected him to be a life long friend, and I guess in a way he was... just a lot shorter then I ever expected.... never take time with a close friend for granted, because some day that time will be the last time. My condolences on your friend. Just lost my blood brother/ride or die buddy of 37 years last month at 65. Hardest part was sitting down to write the eulogy and just get hit with where do you start to sum up the guy with you from a couple dumbass 20 somethings full of piss and vinegar raring to take on the world, to your best man,to the guy reaching out to you in some pretty dark places when you wanted to rejoin your wife after she dies suddenly and then I these last 4 years when the doc tells you odds are that ticking time bomb in your chest will go off in 5 years organized budget bucket list trips to get me out and at least rack up some more remember that time stories while we're still here only to have him have the heart blow up.

I guess we never really grew up because we continued that stupid shit in our late 20's early 30's. We had just passed out 27th year of friendship. I had become as much a friend of the Family as a friend of his. His mother messaged me and told me to call her it was important... I knew it was about Bryan but I had no idea what she was about to tell me. His mother confirmed to me that I had become part of the family, when she told me so far as she was concerned I was apart of the family.... It ment a lot to me for her to say that.
