I love the house. People have to understand, settlers back in 1840, were self sufficient. Went to town, maybe once a year. Had chickens, pigs, milk cow, horses and utility wagon, plows. God Bless them. They made a strong, self reliant nation, called America The Beautiful.

Some homes [not “…Houses!”] have Character. This is one of the few I’ve EVER seen that has it SO BEYOND that quality..!!! I’m in my 60’s now & grew-up running around my Grandad’s Southeastern GA Sawmill, where he repurposed 100+ year aged Southern Yellow Heart Pine into flooring for multimillion dollar homes. For him, it was a lifelong passion. I’ve inherited that love of aged timber used & reused for Americana’s Heritage ~ this dream site suits such visions! Thank You, Brad, for sharing this with the whole of us… 🇺🇸 PS: Majesty’s definition lies in these woods, stones, earth, water and human toil & sweat.., IF you were to take just one of those elements, this Majestic Homestead would fall into ruin. Thank The Lord that this Home has remained kept!🇺🇸

Actually the saying “God willing and the Creek don’t rise” is a southern saying talking about the Creek Indians from back in the old days when there was a distinct possibility of a Creek uprising at the time and it is something that has just stuck down here.

Yes, so now I had to look it up, fascinating stuff. Benjamin Hawkins, an Indian agent (principle agent for the Creek Indians) is noted for this phrase. He (b15aug1754-d6jun1816) was a planter, statesman, delegate in Congress and a Senator- NC. appointed by President George Washington as General superintendent of Indian Affairs(1796-1818 / but he died suddenly in 1816)... he negotiated one of the longest running peace treaties with the Indians... but unfortunately the Indians were losing so much land, they had an uprising coinciding with the War of 1812... the Creek war 1813 - 1814, Andrew Jackson defeated the Red Sticks (Indians from the Creek Indians that formed The Red Sticks) in the battle known as the Battle of HorseShoe Bend. Interesting history ... I found two really nice sources just learning this by reading about it from this post. A wealth of knowledge our internet today, the biggest library at our fingertips;) The phrase history: www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/31/messages/316.html Benjamin Hawkins history: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Hawkins

Know that you have to adapt your lifestyle to live this way. Work from home or self employed? Central Kentucky can get some winter weather but it won’t be on the ground long. More of an inconvenience than a problem. If you take an income hit that may work out since your taxes and other expenses go down. Your wood stove saves energy money. Have a nice manageable garden then can in the summer. Wish it was mine!

You don't need to stock up if you like wild game Kentucky has more deer and turkeys than any state in the United states. And the will be right in your yard.

@@gregfuzi1069 Where is a good place for a Californian to relocate to in Kentucky to escape this HELLHOLE?
@gregfuzi10695 жыл бұрын
@@IgnatiusCheese if your in California you need to run for your life. I just left there 4 years ago. What a messed up place. I got stuck there for 5 years because of a car accident. I was a passenger in a car that got hit by some rich idiot. And my loyer screwed me out there. Anywhere in Kentucky cheaper than there the whole state of Kentucky pretty nice. If I was going to move there from the center of state to the west side really nice. And wild game every where. You can eat of your front yard.

Brad, thank you so much for sharing this truly beautiful property. I owned mountain property in the San Juan Mountains of CO and just can't seem to veer from returning there. Your video almost made me reconsider. Great video and I even like the road leading into the property as it would make looky lou's turn around. I'm searching for seclusion.

Beautiful cabin and land but I question if it would be a flood zone at times.

yeah, it would be a shame if it could survive perfectly since 1840, lol

yes it is beautiful and peaceful but he said sometimes you can not get into the property when the creek rises, which means the road floods and them rocks are supposed to keep the flood waters from the cabin , also where there is water there is snakes and mesquites ???????
