Considering that Josh brushed against death so painfully, it just puts the themes of mortality into even greater perspective. Also I should say that the entire Songs for the Deaf crew actually came back on "If I Had a Tail", and Alex Turner actually did the little "control the dice" bit at the end. Dave Grohl actually did most of the drumming on this LP cause their mainstay Joey Castillo left the band in the process of recording, afterwards they hired Jon Theodore, who's also a beast. Trent also wound up collabing with them earlier on in the track "Era Vulgaris", which surprisingly didn't even make it onto the album of the same name, and you can basically only listen to it on youtube

I remember watching em perform it on Austin City Limits, and a couple times the crowd chuckled at song titles and such. Josh didn't seem to love that... but I felt the same way when I first heard certain track titles and the chorus to If I Had A Tail (I'd own the night) here... I mean it does kinda conjure a fruity image of Cats the Musical or something. Still, QotSA, Kyuss, TCV, there's something to love in all of em. It was Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner who came up with the song title. Frontman Josh Homme told NME: "I called him one day a few years ago, when I was first starting to think about the possibility of getting to make a record and said 'hey man, give me a good line.'" "He hit me back and he was like "kalopsia", and I said "kalopsia, what the hell's that?" and he said "it's a condition wherein everything seems more beautiful than it actually is." Homme produced the Arctic Monkey's 2009 album, Humbug and also sung backup on their track "All My Own Stunts." Turner returned the favour by singing back up on the …Like Clockwork track, "If I Had A Tail."

Not sure if too many people here would've heard it but Diorama by Silverchair is a MUST listen album - Silverchair often get overlooked as a Nirvana clone who went pop but those here in Australia know just how incredible of a record Diorama is from start to finish. Particularly when hearing the story of Daniel Johns' arthritis that came on right before they began touring it and the US record label's threats to shelve the album because it wasn't "Silverchair enough". One of the greatly under-appreciated albums of the 2000s.
