A couple of real quick observations as someone who lived through it, season tickets on the high school bleachers from Rod Rust through early Belichich- Great trip down memory lane. Just wanted to add some context a lot of reviewers aren't mentioning that I think are worth considering: (1) Belichick 's demeanor is not a surprise. Let's not forget, he's doing these interviews in the midst of playing for his job despite years of success. He hasn't had the time or space to be nostalgic, with the pressure off and the controversies in the past. It's a lot easier for retired guys to look back and be candid and he knows he will have to cope with it but won't be able to be candid back without great cost. During these interviews, Boston and national podcasts and talk radio were airing shows daily saying he's done, it was all Brady. He isn't in a great mood, and to expect him to be relaxed & forthcoming like he was for The Two Bills, which was amazing, it is not reasonable to expect that from him in the middle of what he was in. 5 years after he retires we'll see nostalgic, grateful Bill. Not when he was in the fire. (2) Bledsoe was a controversy among many fans and talk radio. There was starting to be nostalgia for him too as he and Parcells turned the team around and went to a superbowl. I loved and admired Steve Grogan but we had never seen anyone throw like Drew. A slow release, sure, but once released his ball made up a lot of lost time! He was also psychologically pounded by Parcells about avoiding bad throws from pressure & how a sack was better. He lost a lot of that gunslinging swagger and was physically less capable but fans don't see practice and Brady was coddled early. They looked like the didn't trust him to throw downfield. (3) The incredible pushback on Belichick was news to me and I wouldn't be surprised if part of Kraft's worry, beyond his investment in Bledoe, gratitude for him, and sympathy for him, wasn't that Kraft wondered if he just wanted to get rid of Parcell's guys. Let's not forget how that relationship was at the time. Guys like TC who were big on Brady are simplifying the consensus on Brady and there may well have been many who thought Brady was great, but there was no Twitter or podcast to hear from these reporters. There was also the traditional rule of not losing your job solely due to injury. I get it wasn't only due to injury and Belichick had to name Brady for the year to stop week after week pass after pass of bs. Grogan-Cavanaugh-Eason-Flutie etc all know the horror show of perpetual QB controversy. I admire even more that Belichick staked his career on Brady. It's all the more ballsy and deserving of incredible gratitude and respect. I don't think Drew was entitled and I understand why he thought he'd get his job back, as does it seems most of the veterans because that's how things were done back in the day. It was also a time when quick reads and release were not all they are today. Hanging in the pocket, taking the hit, being able to go deep were far more important back then - the league was transitioning, but a quick release, short thrower wasn't coveted as the gold standard,. Looking forward to more!

I think the Patriots should have never cut Cam Newton in so hostile fashion! It was so brutal of the procedure. It’s been 3 years, and I’m not healed from that dreadful day. I think if Cam was going to be released, it shouldn’t have been done so brutal. Cam came to play for almost nothing on his initial contract, left his family, got re-signed, & then cast to the wolves. Cam had nothing to do with the nasty things between Bill & Brady. I understand Brady did great things, but Brady also failed the Patriots by his caustic attitude. When he went to the Buccaneers, to me, he was bragging. I didn’t like it. I’ve been watching for years. Also, he’s the top star QB, but he didn’t do it by himself. It wasn’t all Bill B. Both needed improvements. Brady was jealous too, of Jimmy G. Jimmy G would’ve been a good successor if nurtured properly. Brady didn’t help Cam at all to do nothing! Cam inherited a tornado after Brady. If u are a real true great leader, u want ur successor to succeed. Brady didn’t want Cam to shine as a Patriot QB. Brady only wants to shine on himself. Brady has achieved it! 4 years later, it’s still all about what Tom Brady did. The Patriots fell because of Brady & it’s not all because of Bill B. All the Quarterbacks who followed Brady aren’t responsible, neither Cam Newton, Mac Jones, or Zappe! They came long after the big stink. I want the Patriots to do better & give Cam Newton, his due credit he never got. Also Mac Jones, & Zappe. Reverse ur course, Patriots! It’s not just Brady. The Patriots Empire is built by many great dedicated men, & women! 🛑 Stop all this exclusive only Brady glory. Only then, will u climb up from ashes! 💕🙏☮️
