I am just getting into woodworking with no experience. I have watched countless videos of people making planters. While they all have been helpful in one way or another, the simplicity, actual visual demonstration, and narration you provide are the best. Watching your videos have boosted my confidence and filled gaps in the "how do I do this one thing?". I appreciate you. Subscribed!

Ive sold over 200 of the planter you taught me to build last year. I get pallet off cuts for .10$ a board. Im into the boxes for like 1.25-1.50$ at most. Its been great. I might dabble with these. Lots of cuts but the profit margins are silly. Thanks alot!

Great project and video tutorial! The Lowes we have in south Florida had cheap fence pickets and I picked up 6 for 1.98 each. They were slightly less than 5 1/2” wide. So squaring up lost a bit more off each side. Also they were so rough and mildew encrusted I planed them a tiny bit at a time to 9/16” thick. I’ve cut all 48 pieces but am thinking assembly will be interesting as all final measurements are a bit off of the plans.

I would nail the vertical slats from the inside so you don't see the nail holes. Also, use pocket hole screws to attach the side assemblies. Then all you have exposed are the top nail holes and you gave a great way to hide those. Thanks for the video, great plans.

I built a set of these and like the look and the process. I had some trouble with my first one because the pickets had such irregular edges and it threw off some of the joints so on the second one I crosscut all my pieces but before ripping them I jointed one edge on each board. This gave me the accuracy I was looking for and my second one turned out much better. I also used a speed square when making the four side frames which helped a lot to get everything to line up for the assembly of the uprights and main carcass. I also appreciate your skill at editing your videos; so many others make you slog through 16 of the same cuts at regular speed. Nice work!

@@coffeesleeves I used a circular saw before I got my table saw. Kreg makes a track and adapter plate that makes long rip cuts easy with one. I still use it to break down full sheets of plywood. Square crosscuts are easy with a speed square.
@coffeesleeves
@coffeesleeves Жыл бұрын
@@tektrixter Great suggestion. I thought about giving that a try. Could that track be used to make long rip cuts on a thin piece though? I have a feeling it could be tricky to be consistent and "confident" making that sort of cut. I didn't check the price of the "Kreg" piece yet, but have a feeling the cost could be up there...
