Another easy mistake to make when making a prebuilt, -Make sure you got the right parts Some prebuilt sites give you all these "free upgrades" to say cooling component for example BUT if one is buying around a 5800x-5900x and that AIO is a 120mm, your likely going to be spending a little extra for a replacement. Luckily, some manufacturers gives a warning if components are not recommended for a build but not all.

Great video! I ordered a Build Redux pc recently - I heard about their delays but I have been gaming on a Mac since 1995 so i can wait a little while longer. I actually also make music in analog synthesisers which have just seen a 10-15% price hike on most retailers. Your comments about the supply chain for rare earths is really relevant for a lot of industries. Thanks for bringing it up and keep up the good work!

DIY builds may seem complicated to new buyers but they should remember you and others are knowledgeable, plus there are tons of videos that walk people through builds step by step. I started with a Tandy 1000, frying the HD immediately. Still, I persevered, and continue to this day. Thanks for helping those who are new to PCs l, and for giving site tops to the rest of us. So that's the problem... I don't know what I need. I'm not a gamer, I'm a graphic designer. I do intensive work in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and I edit my KZbin videos in Premier. I don't even dare open After Effects on my current system. What kind of specs do you recommend for someone in my situation? I waited outside Best Buy here in TX on 2 different occasions I got a 3060ti the first time put it in a prebuilt and decided I want to build my own PC so on my 2nd trip to Best I got a 3070ti. I just need the case, power supply, cooler, fans and a better CPU (got a Ryzen 7 3700x currently).

when i bought a digital storm prebuilt, it was the lynx model you looked at but an older one with a 1650, the ram was in dual channel (2 x 4gb). 8 gigs is still too little anyway and idk if theyre still like this but

The biggest problem I have with prebuilts is you can basically never control for the quality of GPU u get. For instance, I only want either an EVGA FTW3 series card, or preferably an ASUS ROG Strix. The chances of me getting one in a prebuilt are basically 0%. Unless it specifies that card, which it almost never does. So even to buy one just to harvest the GPU, you’re still rolling the dice…

Gpus will start to appear more often on the used marketing from now on. As ethereum moves to proof of stake, miners will slowly be getting out of business, so you could possibly grab one that way

Look at your budget and buy the prebuilt with the best GPU in it and than rebuilt it. And I like my ASUS RTX 3060 Ti 8GB OC. It balances well enough with my 7 year old X99 based system. It sometimes draws near 205 watt when playing Cyberpunk going a little over the official specification. I play it on Ultra just because I want to. Funny thing. my Asus 29 Inch 3D gaming monior from 2014 onley does 1080p.

For DIY it's best to find a good deal on a used GPU like 1070, 1080, 1660, rx580, etc. It's still possible to build a capable $700 gaming PC as long as one is willing to make this compromise.
