I have heard and viewed dozens of peformances of this most hauntingly beautiful piece by Brahms, it is always amazing to me that almost every pianist who plays it seems enraptured by it. Hi George, thank you very much ! I feel very honoured! This is the very piece I requested when a few months ago you asked what people would like to hear. This is indeed a piece for the true pianist and your playing and interpretation get the bullseye in my opinion. The tempi and voicing are absolutely aristocratic . The wistfulness that Brahms seems to embody in his composition is delivered by you. The three against two section with it’s difficult voicing and again the canon in the middle which must be so hard to play so delicately are truly marvels. Very satisfying listening. For ages in the last couple of years this piece was the last thing I listened to before going to sleep at night and I’m going to enjoy that ritual again with your playing . Many thanks again George, wonderful to hear you’re a pianist’s pianist rather than someone whose reputation relies on a glittering keyboard display. That’s all very well but in the end the question is whether the playing moves the listener in the way intended by the composer . In my opinion your performance of Brahms opus 118 number 2 amply does. Thank you again John PERTH WESTERN AUSTRALIA

As I recall I was in awe of the Work In Progress video you posted recently. This performance shows me why I have followed you and why I continue to follow every creation of yours on the keyboard. As you sit in front of the keyboard you morph into one entity with the piano becoming one finely tuned entity. You then create the best possible outcome which leaves listeners like me spellbound from the first note to the last! The color, the warmth, the passion, the feeling, and the tonal qualities are all sublime creating a sadness only when you have finished the last note. And then the feeling of loss until I hear you play next! BRAVO

That was truly beautiful George. It moved me to tears and gave me shivers. Your playing gave me the impression the music was hidden inside the piano and you were carefully and lovingly pulling it out gently with your sensitive fingers, some notes were delicate and needed a fine and gentle coaxing, others were bolder and allowed you to pull them out more assertively, and all done by feel with the eyes closed. I have not seen you play before and it was fascinating to watch. You play from your heart and it is magnificent. Thank you for a superb six minutes. - Tania, NSW Australia.

@@georgeharliono Telling us the story Brahms had in mind while composing, as the previous poster wrote, was exactly how I would have phrased it. Too many pianists tend to rush through this piece missing the entire point that I believe was Brahm's purpose: to unfold how deeply he felt when he first heard it in his soul: from a humble beginning to strong restatements as his heart soared, all returning to a gentle conclusion,
