Double uni for joining any 2 lines seems to work well for me.

Braid is best for bigger species, I prefer mono for panfishing
@joshandhuntersadventures50462 ай бұрын
I tell you what last couple years I been using braid for crappie and it has been awesome been running a leader of super light fluorocarbon and the combo makes it very sensitive you can feel the lightest bite. As far as big species I wouldn’t consider bass a big species and I would say the majority of bass fisherman use braid a lot on spinning and casting for certain setups. Like I said especially for the sensitivity part.

You know, I have always fished with mono and never tried any others. I mainly fish for trout, though. I never bothered looking at other kinds of line, because I didn't understand the advantages. This video goes a long way in explaining that. Great video! You should share this around on many of the Facebook Fishing Pages.

Another excellent video josh. I tried mono this year but had nothing but bad luck with it. Short casts, knots and more fish broke me off than I can remember. Had to switch back to braid.

Braid to flouro leader on all of my spinning gear. Mono is also bad for line twist. You are exactly right about the knot. It is crucial to tie a good knot or it will be a day full of heartbreak. Great video

Great Detailed comparisons between braid and mono, I definitely prefer braid with the sensitivity, smoothness coming off the reel and no memory but there’s times where I hate that braid has no stretch and your snagged

I view braid and mono like a fork and a spoon. They both have specific uses. I use mono ice fishing and river fishing. It has enough memory to slightly limit my casts so I can hit exact spots without overcasting. When ice fishing the ice can separate tiny braid strands and weaken it. I use nanofil braid for bait casting because it casts a mile effortlessly and is so strong.

Yes, but there is one HUGE difference...A fork and spoon, made from the same type of metal, will cost nearly the same. But the difference in cost between mono and braid is HUGE. I can buy a 900-yd spool of 15-lb test quality monofilament line for $4-$8, depending on brand. Huge, huge financial advantages to using mono.

Very good information. I use a lot of straight braid. I need to start using leaders more often. And I think I only have one setup with mono. Gotta get on that

I still use mono for almost everything. More abrasion resistance for cover and the stretch keeps from tearing hooks out. But I like braid when it's windy. You can feel more.

I always use a leader for braid most definitely in the clear water we have here usually use fluorocarbon to attach it works great I will use about a 15 foot leader
@masonreppeto88211 ай бұрын
braids also like 2-3 times more expensive than mono.
@joshandhuntersadventures504611 ай бұрын
Yes that is true but they each have there own advantages. Braid on a spinning reel or any reel for that matter will outlast monofilament. You will get a lot of memory on mono where braid will outlast it. Plus the sensitivity and casting distance you get with braid is better. But yes I still use mono for some applications especially in the winter throwing tightline and Damiki all though I use 7 pound Sunline Sniper fluorocarbon for the Damiki now. Thanks for watching

@joshandhuntersadventures5046Ай бұрын
Well I can tell you right now if you are fishing in clear water with visibility of 10-12 foot smallmouth do not like it. But maybe you got some fish that don’t care 🤷♂️ now when I flip braid I don’t have a leader but on my spinning reels I always have a leader our water is just so clear it makes the most sense.

Here in Florida we run braid all the time I prefer 30 #. The wife likes 40#. With all the grass we fish you have to run it. I tell clients all the time. “ Get rid of that leader. That’s the weak spot”. They never do till that Jumbalina snaps off. Great video and great tips

I quit using Mono along time ago. My fishing conditions differ a little from yours. I fish mainly rocks and most of our fish have teeth. The abrasion resistance coupled with no memory make braid my go to line for my fishing conditions. I do use a flourocarbon leader as well. I'll be sure to check out the knot you suggested. I currently use the Surgeons knot when connecting braid to flouro A very well put together video sir. Well explained and your videography is good. Thanks for sharing!!
