I came upon you with your first HM video, obviously he has a lot of dedicated fans. However I think you’ve created some unique and special here. Most of us cannot correlate such divergent things as sciences, arts, technology, etc. If your video was simply the second part focusing on the hemispheres and structures on the brain and how meditation affects them, you’d have hits from science nerds like me but even I would not instinctually connect that with an artist or daily life. They would be ships in the night, two things I enjoy that I normally see no association between. Your methodology here has a potential of reaching more people and those already bought in more deeply. HM is a great artist to do this with, and I’m sure there are many others even from different genres that you can use to reach even more people. Thank you for work here. Now get HM into an MRI, I’m 100% sure you could crowd source the funds for it. :)

@@eddyfca It's all good. But we need some controls and comparisons for this experiment. Like a poet writing vs. reciting in realtime. Maybe other freestylers. Maybe include an eye tracker while responding to images and rhythm changes... to name a few. My point is, just putting HMack in an fMRI is the easy part. Finding a way to get the most meaningful data seems like the real challenge. I'd love to hear more ideas & discussion about this though.

He made a hook and chorus with those three random words given by a random person. Then made the first verse about book, second verse about spirituality and the last verse about meditation. He literally made a song out of three random words in a freestyle. Other artists spend a lot of time writing songs like this and he made it spontaneously. Harry Mack is beyond genius.
@horatiowolfe90252 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that he never writes so he had to remember the hook everytime he went back to it. I guess if you make it catchy enough, you'll likely remember it (I'm drinking on a Sunday and I'm high as fuck!) I can't even talk about a random word without stopping and thinking about it... Nevermind doing it with melodic vocals AND to a beat. No words can really truly describe H. Mack, that's why we all say 'GOAT', but even that feels like it loses meaning the more it gets said

@@horatiowolfe9025 Definitely. I used to argue with someone here in KZbin about Hmack and Eminem. Got chills and watery eyes at min 6.10! I grew up in a vedic culture context and was educated in vedic knowledge since my very first years of life. I've always found that ancient philosophies and modern science are just two different languages that describe the same concepts. What gives me a reassuring sense of hope for the future is seeing scientists that feel this, and find the connection, a "translation" method between these two languages, instead of denying it. I feel it's a great advantage that will spare a lot of time used in searching things that have actually always been there, right in front of our eyes, with ancient signs indicating them! 😃 Religions were probably needed to bring humanity to this fase, like the walls of a labyrinth, once we can see the exit, these walls which were a trap, finally expose their purpose. Seeing intelligent professionals like yourself, gives me the feeling we could actually be at a very positive point of human history. Respect to your work.❤️🙏🏼

I have been an atheist or agnostic for most of my life, yet I have softened a bit in my older age. One of my favorite ideas I have thought of recently is a concept of prayer from a non-religious perspective. And to understand any potential value the ideas from many cultures contain. The simplified form is: Meditation is a self centering (in a good way) sort of activity. You focus your mind internally towards the Self. Your breathing, your calmness. Etc. Prayer is just meditation that is often focused externally. You meditate on the issues of others, and perhaps through doing so, one can focus the mind in a way that improves one's ability to help others. Or atleast empathize more often regarding the less innate forms of empathy. (Like logical empathy. Low bias empathy. Etc) Or atleast that is what I think about sometimes now when I "pray" and meditate.

I think the difference between books and reading stuff online or watching videos, is the distractions. When you read or watch stuff online, you're bombarded with ads, related content, and other people's comments. I have to believe that with all of these things in your peripheral, it takes energy from your brain, where as when you read from a book, all you have is the text in front of you.

Awesome videos, love the fact that Harry's freestyles caught the eye of an academic profesionnal who can give another perspective on what'shappening. It's so quick to say that he is just talented and awesome, however much he might be. There is still so much wonder in the facts that he has practiced for such a long time and has certain things like meditation or reading which add to his ability to freestyle. Wonder, along with curiosity, are the truest inspirations for science. The perspective that comes with your reactions is really refreshing in that it touches on that wonder and curiosity. At least for me haha

Harry Mack is incredible when he weaves specific words in context, but he's even more impressive when he gets profound as he did with that spirituality part. In fact, one of my favorite freestyles of his was at the end of Omegle Bars 54, when he improvises a song just based on the word "broken" about a guy whose girlfriend cheated on him. The story he tells off the cuff is deep, cohesive, and incredibly creative while maintaining his excellent flow. Anyway, loved the deep dive you did into the neuroscience of meditation. Very cool.

I only started watching his videos about 2 months ago and during my free time, I binge watch his videos. I even workout to some of his Omegle videos, as well as his walking around videos. Not to sound corny, but what he does is borderline supernatural. Dr. Neurologist, I bet if you put Harry Mac into a MRI machine whilst he is rapping, the results would most likely blow you away. Hell, he would probably break the machine (lol). The only explanation that I can come up with, is that he is using both sides of his brain at 99.999999% capacity when he is freestyling.

I’m going to add a second comment as I see so many people recommending Rap God. That would be great because the central question that video brings up is how the human brain (or whatever HM has) can incorporate new information by reading and clicking around a computer, analyze that information, and then apply the creative process within milliseconds for 5 minutes while on beat at an extremely fast tempo. We obviously don’t give our brains enough credit on what they are capable of. Thank you for your videos, I’m still going through them but if you don’t have one already I’d love to see how anxiety/fear work in our minds.
