I'm from Kentucky and my family "owned" 3 slaves. The story was that the slaves were on the run and they needed a place to go so they begged my grandma's great grandparents for them to say that they owned them whenever the authorities showed up, then after the civil war was over I think that a few of them took the last name of Daniels because my family had helped them out. Also for anyone who believes that they were just making it up, just let me tell you that my family was poor and Irish so they had sympathy for people who got treated like ass. @@GMNGChristian Once again I don't understand where you get your information and why you seem to have a hard on for Lexington. The John Hunt Morgan statue and the one of the confederate man on horses had been in the front yard of the court house. It was decided to move them to the historic Lexington Cemetery. They were moved at night so it would interfere least with downtown traffic; like major road work always is. It's more fitting they are in the cemetery as they will join many other Civil War dead who already have monuments there. Henry Clay is buried there and his monument is there not at his estate on Richmond Rd. Now please go read a real history book and stop getting your fixed history from dubious sources. ps that one horse's only claims to fame was that the man's original horse had been a mare but this horse had big ol horse balls. For many decades students have painted those balls bright pick. So we have lost that tradition.

The mispronunciation of Kanawha is so grating on the ears. And you also got the creation of West Virginia wrong as well. The unionist government that was set up in Wheeling was called the Restored Government of Virginia (RGoV), also called the Reorganized Government of Virginia and was recognized by Congress as the official government of Virginia during the Civil War and is the direct predecessor of the current Virginia government. At no point did the RGoV reform to make West Virginia. Instead, they gave permission for the western counties to form their own state and moved the seat of government from Wheeling to Alexandria when WV was admitted as a state. The RGoV remained in Alexandria until the end of the Civil War when it moved to Richmond. And no one told the new state that it had to be named West Virginia, it was because Kanawha there was already a county named Kanawha and the convention delegates thought it would cause confusion.

Just saying... but Kentucky had to stay neutral in the Civil War, being the birthplace of the Confederate President and the Union President. Also the Confederate flag didn't look like that... but otherwise GREAT VIDEO!

Kentucky wasn't neutral. Kentucky sided with the union, with only a fringe group of traitors supporting the Confederacy. A majority of the population, economy, and official state government supported the union. Saying Kentucky was neutral is like saying Maryland was neutral.
@collinhelm82096 жыл бұрын
TheNinjaDC The State Government officially declared neutrality in the early days of the war and only switched to supporting the Union because the confederacy violated their neutrality.
