I think I would have to say the period of ancient history, such as ancient Egypt, Persia, China. I do enjoy studying the Golden age of Islamic knowledge in Spain. Not only for Medicine but also for Maths, Law and other sciences as well.

@@morceen Spaniards feel very proud of their history. We understand that our country is an almalgation of Arab, Jewish, Christian, Roman and Celtic culture among many others. So, we tend to be very hospitable and accept everyone, regardless of their ethnicity. Therefore, we do not hate or dislike neither Arabs nor Muslims. Best regards

@@pitrris Good to know you feel that way, I've met some Spanish people who tend to demonize the Andalusian period for religious or national reasons, and do not view that period as part of their history, rather link theirselves to the history of Frankish and Northern kingdoms.

The Sushruta Samhita (सुश्रुतसंहिता, IAST: Suśrutasaṃhitā, literally "Suśruta's Compendium") is an ancient Sanskrit text on medicine and surgery, and one of the most important such treatises on this subject to survive from the ancient world. The Compendium of Suśruta is one of the foundational texts of Ayurveda (Indian traditional medicine), alongside the Caraka-Saṃhitā, the Bheḷa-Saṃhitā, and the medical portions of the Bower Manuscript. It is one of the two foundational Hindu texts on medical profession that have survived from ancient India. The Suśrutasaṃhitā is of great historical importance because it includes historically unique chapters describing surgical training, instruments and procedures which is still followed by modern science of surgery.

First off, fantastic video! Each instalment has me falling more in love with both Neurosurgery and Medicine as a whole. I have a question about the pronunciation of his name. I noticed you didn't pronounce 'Khalaf' was this intentional? Seems superfluous but my two loves are Neurosurgery and Linguistics. Cheers!

I am extremely interested in mediaeval medicine, particularly in the use of wine by monks or scribes that might have documented this. How can I contact you. If you could please guide me or provide links to where I can find this information would be greatly appreciated! Best Regards, Domingo

the mesoamericans had a pretty good survival rate with their brain surgeries, somewhere around 95% of the people who underwent them actually survived and continued to live long lives, and these people didn’t have the advancements in medical knowledge or technology that the Europeans did
