Carrie improves on Sypha's energy balls in that they actually home in properly and not just circle around an enemy awkwardly for several minutes. Does beg the question of if Alucard was playable in this would he still be unable to attack on stairs.

It’s funny that they don’t interact because Cornell’s ending makes it sound like they went to fight Dracula together.
@superstarmandl3 күн бұрын
Oh, the Fernandez Clan is actually the Belnades clan/Velnumdes clan, the names sound very similar so its possible that Fernandez were always the intention. In fact, originally you would've fought Sypha specifically in Carrie's campaign due to their relation
@BrainScratchComms3 күн бұрын
I... have my doubts about that last one, though in retrospect the naming connection seems like it should have been obvious. I suppose "Belnades" was always such a culturally random-sounding name that I never made the connection to Spanish, even with Sypha's accent in the Netflix show. - Lewis

The "level skipping" discussion reminded me a little of Tales of Symphonia, where early on you're encouraged to take a boat to the southern half of the eastern continent. You can instead travel all the way north to find a bridge to the northern half of the continent, and if you walk into any of the towns there you're locked into doing the story events of the northern half first- the boats to Palmacosta stop and you can no longer visit the southern half until you reach a roadblock in the northern half and the characters decide to head back. It's an extremely difficult route because the fights there are intended to be done after events in the southern half, but if you make it through, then all the battles for a while after Palmacosta are a breeze because you're plenty overleveled for them. Not really a 'skip', since you have to do all of it anyway, but it still came to mind.
@KaoruMzk3 күн бұрын
You're only locked into the "hard" route if you visit Hima, which is tucked away in a corner of the world map that's not immediately obvious, and even then, you can still go back to the Palmacosta route after completing either of the two available temples in the northern continent. The Sylvarant section of ToS is surprisingly open and gives you a lot of freedom in how you want to do the store dungeons.

Oh the Carrie fernandez this is funny, apparently if you check what her name is spelled in japanese it doesn't actually read out as "Fer-na-n-dez" but "Ver-na-dess"... you might have recognize that if you played CV3, BECAUSE THATS A BORKED SPELLING OF THE SURNAME OF SYPHA! So either somebody on the localization team must have tripped and did not pick up on the reference... or the japanese version having vague info made the reference cloudy and vague by default
@SirDanFilmsUnltd3 күн бұрын
I imagine it’s an attempt to Romanise the way a Japanese speaker might say Belnades, with the phonetic similarities in the Japanese dialect between L/R and B/V. Belnades Berunadesu Verunadesu Vernades Fernades Fernandez EDIT: As it turns out, the original name in Japanese was Verunandesu - easy to see how that can morph into both Belnades and Fernandez.

By that point in Bravely Default, with the Eternia pathways, you already have access to Hasten World and Jump to completely break the game anyway... as long as you outspeed the enemies and they don't have priority attacks (f- you, Kikyo and your Shippujinrai attack), your party is untouchable, even by bosses. Don't use this combo against Rusalka, though - it'll crash the game if Rusalka tries to come out of its "Dig" attack and there are no party members for it to hit. Also, there are at least two or three chapter 8 superboss fights you can't cheese this way (not counting Nemeses fights).

Round 3 here we go...and I thought Luis clepomaniac of needing to collect everything and do everything in Pokemon back then was tedious lol. But this is fine, considering ...though not all that different...each character has SLIGHT story differences and scenarios...

@BrainScratchComms3 күн бұрын
In point of fact, you pass by that area on the way down from both towers; it's the path back to the gate between them. I didn't get the Moon Card the first time because I went and rushed past without breaking the candles. I was kicking myself when I checked the candles after and found the Moon Card there. - Lewis

One downside to Carrie is that after you shoot. You can't change up again until the attack strikes its target. However, Carrie has a big advantage that when you use your secondary attack while charging. It'll do more damage since it stacks on top.
@BrainScratchComms3 күн бұрын
Actually did not know about stacking her primary attack on top of her secondary attack damage, though I did notice that when I whacked candles while charging, her charged attack would burst on impact. Just thought it cancelled the charge. I'll need to try that next time I play this game. - Lewis

4:58 Talking about her blue LoD dress and her green and blue dress with color contrast. And 2 years designed a character for my manga who was Kerri and followed a theme of greens and blues in both her older and younger designs for the magical girl theme. I was not inspired by castlvania 64 from the idea. I just thought they greens and blues were a good choice with some black to the outfit to round it out with shades of purple. 🤣 I just thought it looked nice. Funny coincidence though
@BrainScratchComms3 күн бұрын
It's a good mix of colors to emphasize a mystical theme in design, since it evokes plants and water, and magic (at least traditionally) often makes use of both nature and water imagery in pop culture since the cultural roots are often based in nature-religion. - Lewis
