Thank you so much for making this video! My 05 King Ranch f-150 has been getting stuck in park off and on for about a month, but got really bad this week. I followed your instructions (took about 10 mins to complete) and also cleaned out the inside of the housing and the slider in the shifter to remove all the build up. Once assembled it was still getting stuck, I held the shift button tightly and pushed the mechanical release (causing the parts inside to rub each other) about 5 times and it started working like new! After that I learned the reason this goes bad is from pulling the shift button in before pressing the brake... youll jam up the plunger and eventually it wont release when you try to press the shift button

my main issue on this assembly - the rocker piece (yellow) was getting stuck on the other side of the circuit board. Filled the gap with some gorilla tape so it could still rock and not get caught. Fixed! Your disassembling definitely helped the process go a lot smoother.

I followed your video to get to the actuator assembly and tried your mechanical fix but it did not solve the problem. Since the mechanics worked and were supposed to enable the electronics to do its job and the shifter was still stuck, I deduced the problem may be in the shift actuator circuit board. I removed it and looked it over front and back carefully. On the back of the circuit board I found a small round brown spot that joined two of the parallel printed circuits that looked like a burn spot. I took a box cutter and used the razor to scrap off the brown spot burn as carefully as I could with the help of a magnifying glass. I reassembled the actuator shift assembly and reinstalled it back into the console. Voila! The shift actuator now works perfectly and I saved myself having to buy a new one that costs approximately $200. Thanks for a great video that allowed me to get to the heart of the problem and find a solution. I hope my experience helps someone else.

I just fixed my shifter !!! It just needed Lube as described! If I wouldnt have known any better from this video I would have bought a whole new shifter $$. Cheap fix with a can of dry lubricant. Thanks!

What part of that white part did you lube?
@lisaa.powell36342 жыл бұрын
The white actuator gets stuck between the PCB and case. I had that problem, best to use dry lube on actuator for no dust collection. Case made of thin plastic where actuator rotates. I also hade a hairline fracture on a soldering joint coming off the coil. That kept console shifter light from working as well as not being able to shift out of park. Resoldered joint everything's working....for now. It is a FORD and yes I love my truck. Thanks for taking time to make this video.

Thank you for the informative video. I live in Australia with an imported F150 Saleen. My shift stuck and I thought here we go......parts from the USA three weeks etc etc. I went to youTube and there you were. I followed your steps and the shift is working like a dream. If your in Australia, let me know, I owe you a beer mate. Cheers Robert

Now ... to the store to get some dry graphite and then I’m tearing apart the mechanism (pursuant to your instructions) on my 2005 Supercrew Cab ... Thanks dude ... best solution I’ve found so far! By the way ... I called Ford Parts and they quoted $276 for the part ... insane price!

Dry graphite work?
@GravitarScrap3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this video, my truck had been doing this for about 6 months and I finally had enough. My problem wasn’t solved by the grease, but by spinning the solenoid board 360 to untangle the wires and now it works flawlessly. I still replaced the old grease but I’m so thankful you explained how this system actually works.

Camera work sucks, but only when you are one handed, which is impressive. This video is perfect if you have this issue, like I did. Thank you, Sir!

What if the plunger is not moving when pressing the break but I hear the click when i press the switch with my finger.
@mikewyckoff79405 жыл бұрын
The video production is of little value compared to the fabulous demonstration of what is actually happening when the gear shift is squeezed, break is pressed and the point the solenoid should activate. I know now beyond a reasonable doubt this is the exact problem II have. Will be watching yours over and taking it step by step to get some lubrication on that plastic piece that gets jammed. I'm thinking a little dry graphite is going to totally fix this problem.

What is the actual name of the parts to order to replace. Second time this is happening ...dealer charged $1100 to repair.

Then you need to sue them. I have worked as a dealer tech. Book time and parts don't add up anywhere near $1100.

I have this issue and need to address it, but before taking everything apart just curious if you think i could get some lubricant to the area using a wd-40 can and straw without having to disassemble more than just the cup holder tray. The sight of that spring flying away causes me pause as I know mine will surely find the nearest drain or area I can't reach it. By the way awesome video thanks for your help!

I think the recommended is K-Y jelly, just ask your Auto parts guy he'll let you know if they have any in stock, it's pretty popular.
