For all the agro around Braintax he made some great music, and it's worth appreciating. Futureghost is one of my fav tunes of all time, it's like listening to a movie.

So glad you heard this track! For sure there’s controversy with Braintax but fact is he made some exceptional conscious uk hip hop!

Can I suggest doing the Louis Slipperz £10 Bag mixtape? It's remembered as a total classic and there's a KZbin vid of the first five tracks which would make for a good reaction. It has an essential track from Jehst and Braintax which isn't available elsewhere and also great stuff from Rodney P and Roots Manuva. Also it doesn't seem to get talked about as much as others but I'd love to hear you do Staircase to Stage by Jehst. It's one of his best IMO

Braintax is a top MC, I always loved his flow which is more laidback than most of the MCs from down south & in London (Braintax is from up North in Leeds). He made a ton of classic tracks and, without him, we would never have had Low Life records, responsible for at least half of the artists pushing UK Hip-Hop in the early-2000s. What he ended up doing really soured things but it shouldn't detract from the music he made & was responsible for. There is a bit of grudge-holding in the UK scene. Not just with Joe Christie (Braintax), which is pretty justified given he still seems to be profiting from the sales of Skinnyman's "Council Estate of Mind" album at Skinny's expense (Skinnyman talks about the situation at length in his brilliant interview on The Shed podcast, worth listening to if you haven't heard it yet). There was a similar, perhaps more unfair, situation regarding another great UK MC from back in the day named Wordsmiff. He was well respected in UKHH around the early-2000s also but then, for some reason, he decided to do a freestyle where he attacked Chester P. Despite the freestyle itself being pretty impressive, he took a lot of unwise shots, many in pretty poor taste, at Chester & Farms and it found its way online onto MySpace (yes, it was a while ago!). Of course, Chester heard it and so he released a classic Task Force response track called "The Bitches" in which he completely destroys Wordsmiff. The release of The Bitches pretty much ended Wordsmiffs career as an MC. He made a recent comeback but, despite Chester saying the beef was long since finished and with Wordsmiff even having to upload a video where he apologised sincerely and said how stupid he was and that Chester had forgiven him, it went by largely ignored with many fans still bitter about his freestyle 10 years earlier! Its a shame because I actually really enjoyed his comeback album. Its called "The Otha Guys" and it is a collaboration between Wordsmiff (now Wordsmiff Flip) and another MC named Spitfire. You should react to "T.O.G" off their album, its a sick track.

Speaking of Words, I just seen he's got a new solo album coming out and, if the teaser is anything to go ny, its sounding sick so far! if anyone's interested you can check his album teaser here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fp2TaoCJaZ6Gn6M

Braintax may have made some shady moves, but he also made some great music. Another classic he did is 'Life through life'

Forgotten gems! He made a few decent albums. Such a shame what he did to the artists that made low life records as big as it was. Most of the tracks on this Thursday throwback will come from that label and time frame. Great episode as always! Please do Jehst life imitating art

CD - you definitely have something going on here. I am only a couple of years younger than you but nevertheless it seems you have managed to invade my psyche! I was listening to Leaf/Farma - Consume on my way home from work today and for each new song a visual of you listening along with me popped up in my head. Good Work! Take care
