I realized and accepted when I turned 50 that I would never marry and surrounded myself with other happy single and married people. I was very happy as a single person and did the things I liked doing - teaching (first grade), painting, writing, meeting with others to talk. Then when I turned 67 I fell in love with a widower, someone I had known since third grade. We are now happily married. My husband claims one of the main reasons he found me attractive was: I was happy in the life I had made for myself.

AMEN! And you don't necessarily have to proclaim to be a Christian to find a happy life with someone, BUT, FAITH in HIM gives you the upper hand. I'm 52 years old & divorce 12 yrs. I have dated on & off and not been in a serious relationship, and mostly on my own... ALONE BUT NEVER LONELY. Whoever said you can't teach Old Dogs new tricks not correct. Because I continue to learn and grow daily. Most importantly this past year I've reflected more on my faith. To trust and wait on HIM and if it is well for Him to send me a partner He will. m Meanwhile, I need to stay focused on Him to help me fight any addictions, learn to love myself despite my flaws because I was WONDERFULLY made by HIM. Sometimes His will is not easy to accept. And I personally believe you need to look to him to be your spouse, your husband first & in doing so HE will prepare you To meet your Earthly spouse. Then again those that you genuinely care for around you may be your spouse & that's an even greater blessing. Be content in that & you'll reap your reward up there. PRAYERS AND BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL🙏😌

^_^ Sure doesn't, as I wrote in my book ---> "The Way of the Broken Sword II" "Do you own your stuff, or does your stuff own you"? I live as a minimalist, getting ready to move to the next stage, meaning I want to be able to carry all my stuff, if I can't get into my back pack it's toast!? I use to watch my girl friends have COMPLETE MELTDOWNS and SPIN INTO HYSTERIA when they couldn't find their cell phone. I NEVER wanted to be like that where an object has that much power over me, so I ditched tons of stuff and find I'm happy without it!? Besides when you have stuff of value you always have to be concerned with someone taking it, who needs that head ache?

If we don't aspire, don't have wants, then what is life? Just mere existence, is it not?
@PersonalDynamics3 жыл бұрын
@@ramaraksha01 ^_^ Rama, sure all of these things you mention of course we pursue them as they pursue us, YES. YES, that is a Part of Life, as life in essence is NOT "Stuff", those are simply add ons, bonuses, benefits and perks of life but they are NOT and SHOULD NOT be our SOLE PURSUIT!? I think what he's hinting at here is our attachments to things (car, homes, clothes, our watch and cell phone, etc) that objects DO NOT MAKE THE "MAN", are you familiar with this concept? Also there are "HOARDERS' have you looked at that? To "Me" it's about "QUALITY" over "QUANTITY", case in point ---> A group of friends spent the day at the beach, the high point was the sunset (I'm in So Cal so we can catch some fantastic sunsets)! Most of my friends and I are about the "Moment", though one of our friends is a PERFECTIONIST EXTREME he's one of the people who pursues stuff and quantity OVER forget about stuff and pursue quality. So our group is enjoying the shared experience catching pics and shooting video, having fun as we watched the sun go down. Our other friend, well he fussed with his camera, then decided he wanted a wide angle lens and then a different camera and add a tripod and change this and adjust that and what about lighting? He WASTED ALL of this time on stuff and getting this PERFECT shot that he MISSED the entire moment!! We should strive MORE for these moments, because it is the memories that remain forever. Stuff can be lost, broken, stolen, sold, traded, memories and feelings can NEVER be taken away! That is life and what I aspire for, the outer manifestation or reality is a manifestation of what resides inside each of us. telarasky.earth^_^

Such good advice. Excessive pride could lead me to buy so many things I don't need while showing off that it could end up limiting my future. Setting firm boundaries and maintaining them well when spending any time at all around a person who is troubled for sure important too. Refusing to spend any more time at all with someone who was willing to risk my life and limb just so they could get their own way in getting what they believe are all the good things in life is important too. Not always easy to predict who is going to surprise someone with terrible behavior. No reason to hide in my closet or rule out some occupations for me like being a social worker too after finding that out.

Svetlana Barrow. I think it is best not to put up with anyone else if they are no good for you. I know it's easier said than done. Very few people like being alone but I think that is preferable to a bad relationship. As George Washington is supposed to have said " It's better to be alone than in bad company ". I think that's true.
