This is a really good video in that you go through all the various scenarios and show the potentials - very thoughtful and descriptive - thanks for the effort and careful dialog.

You are right about extractors, but one trick I've used in the past [not possible on some equipment] is after drilling a clean hole through the stuck piece and thin it out, is to use a tapered reamer to get it to match the extractor more closely. This avoids pinch points somewhat by allowing a more even bite in the bore using less pressure. Driving the typical extractor [with whatever taper it has] into a straight bore extra tight can wedge the top threads outwards, which sometimes compounds problems.

Yeap that would work well but not many ppl have access to that kind of equipment.

any tips on removing the two bolts holding this exact Brembo brake? should I heat the bolts before trying to remove them?

can't hurt

Buy a hardened steel bit
@AutoBuddynz2 жыл бұрын
Yeap that can be done, but remember the good quality extractors are hardened steel as well

Normally it wont work because there is no thread anymore. You Cant rethread it. Its safety issue. Also, after re threading, it will leak fluid
@AutoBuddynz2 жыл бұрын
Correct, the way around it if the threads are severely damaged is with a TIME-SERT. If anyone is in this situation with damaged threads best to drop the caliper off with a specialist engineer, or simply replace the whole caliper.

Wire EDM would have gotten it out with no damage whatsoever.

Sometimes, it's better to just get a new caliper. Too much time consumed drilling and cleaning the broken caliper.
@AutoBuddynz2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, however where I am you struggle to find parts both new and old. Normally several months on back order
@aldovera37892 жыл бұрын
@@AutoBuddynzI see, that is different, then.
